Console failures?

I honestly never thought I'd start a thread (I haven't started it yet but will shortly) about my Wii killing itself off. Sure I've lost a few 360's, but a Wii? I even searched with google for the errors I was getting and didn't even find a reference to exactly what my Wii was doing. To me that's just odd! But be that as it may, my Wii is dead.

So as I was wracking my brain to find a topic for this week's poll I figured why not ask everyone if they or someone they know has lost any of the consoles. I know the 360 will be in the forefront, but I'm interested in finding out if anyone has lost any of the others. I am pretty sure that Dolfan lost his PS3 earlier this year, but other than that I haven't heard too many reports of the PS3 or Wii dying out. So let's find out!

Dude, I still have a fully functional PS2 and an old Xbox that work as good as the day they were bought. Never heard of a Wii failing - but then again they're so hard to find, maybe that's why?

I have fallen victim to the RROD twice. It has been the first time I have ever had any problems with any gaming system. I even have one of the first manufactured PS2's that I waited all night in line for back in 2000. They said the first batch had issues, I lucked out I guess. BTW my Atari 2600 still fires-up. It is the TV that it's hooked-up to that may go first! LOL

I've been through some 360s, and have know 2 or 3 guys who's PS3s bricked after a firmware update. But I have yet to hear about any Wii issues.

I have a 360 from launch and ps3 from just after launch and no problems with either. Oh and damn you if me typing this changes any of that.

My girlfriends, nieces daughter had her Wii die and they got it replaced from the extended warranty where they bought it. Someone at work bricked a PS3 during a firmware update, and I had the RedRingOfLife on my 360 and got a brand new one from MS.

just about everyone I know has had RROD on 360; all my in person friends have. One buddy had a Wii that worked, but the Wii got some dead pixel issues. Wasn't the TV.

My 360 took a shit, got it 'repaired', and sold it.

I thought my PS3 was bricked from the firmware update, but she righted herself after a week. I have no clue how that happened lol

Sorry, i just watched "Gone in 60 Seconds" and with the Ford lover talking about his PS3 like its a girl, that thought just popped in my mind.

I dont want any part of this thread, but i will say this, I only know people with 360 Failures.

My 360 was my first console failure since the NES days of tearing your system apart, cleaning it out, then proceeding to blow into the cartridges and system for the next couple of years. I take that back, same deal with my PS2 to get rid of some dust bunnies. Still have it though. Thank god for rubbing alcohol and q-tips.

2 360s have crapped out on me, and I know someone who had their Wii die. They worked it out through Nintendo and after only 90 days, they had it back!

Oh crap!?! 90 freaking days?!?! They told me I'd have it back w/in like 10-14 days of sending it in. 90 days is a long ass time considering they're charging me $89 to fix it!

HERE is a link to a failure rate study I did over a LAG. It is written in a "humorous" way making fun of all of the medical papers I read, so no, I don't think I'm as nerdy as it sounds.

I'm probably going to revise this in August or September, and I'd be happy to get the same information from y'all and combine it into a much larger study.

I would like to see a poll/study more aimed at the post Sept 360's. We all know that the 360's prior to that where crap. They have supposedly fixed them. I know of a couple failures. However, I know my post fix 360 has been rock solid where my repaired 360 is starting to have issues again. This would be a more interesting study to see if MS got it right finally.
