The intent of PreGameLobby has always been to develop a gaming site where gamers who wanted to simply have fun could coordinate games with other like-minded gamers. We initially thought that this meant having a site that catered to "mature" gamers. Given that many PGL members are not so mature to begin with, we have learned that this moniker perhaps doesn't quite fit PGL.
So we started looking deeper into what made us start PGL and what we were trying to create. To do this we looked at our core demographic. The vast majority of PGL members are between the ages of 21 and 70 (90%+), are married and have full time jobs. None of us have a great amount of time to play games online so we want to ensure that the time we do have to play is filled with fun. We don't like being spawn-camped, pwn3d or beaten every single round. Most of us don't have the time to play games every hour of the day (although we'd like to). We like games to be challenging, yet fun. We come to PGL to share similar interests and talk about games and everything else in our lives knowing that the rest of the similarly situated members will understand.
Over the last year we have grown to over 1000 members. In this time we have seen members come and go. Unfortunately some of the core members who helped found PGL have left. We had to ask ourselves why, and whether we were being true to our original intent.
While it is a difficult decision to make and one which the PGL administration contemplated and discussed for many months, PGL is raising its age requirement to 21 years. We have also revamped the Terms Of Service (TOS) to ensure that PGL meets its original goals. Please review the new TOS
HERE.
Current members who are below 21 years in age will be allowed to remain, as some have become great additions and very helpful here at PGL.
To ensure that we meet our goals, all posts, behavior and activity of members (under or over 21 years) will be closely monitored from this point forward to ensure compliance with the
TOS. Given the age restriction, it is simple human nature that there will likely be less tolerance for violations by members under the age of 21. While it may be unfortunate, it is a simple reality and needs to be said.
If actions by members are inappropriate, a simple and defined enforcement procedure will be followed and ultimately that member may be banned. The owners will make the final decision regarding banning but will rely heavily on the opinions and vote of the current moderators and administration. While this is a difficult decision to make, the administration here at PGL believes it to be the proper decision to ensure that PGL meets its ultimate goals.
Thank you for your understanding as we continue to grow PGL in the direction we all envisioned a short 1 year ago when we gave birth to what has now become a daily ritual for many of us.
