Why PGL Works

Why PGL Works

A few nights ago, my wife walked out of the den at 11:36 p.m. and asked me to stop meowing at the television set. Obviously, had it not been so late, I would have kindly asked her to get off my back and make me a sandwich, but she’s studying for the Bar Exam and I thought I should cut her some slack. After all, I was meowing at the television set, rather loudly, but in my mind, it was a perfectly legitimate act.

Moments before, I along with seven other members of PGL, had been in the pre game lobby of Halo 3, matched up in Social Big Team Battle against another team of eight players. As soon as the lobby was matched up and everyone could hear each other, XxBigD1ckM1k3xX, on the opposing team, broke the silence:

Keezy, I’m going to ass rape you.

One never knows how to react to that. I mean, there’s nothing funnier than rape, obviously, but it’s one of those things that had it been said in person, I imagine that it would happen on a late night subway train where you’re trapped and the only other person in the car besides the 400 pound dude saying it to you is a homeless man with less teeth than clothes.

It didn’t happen there though, and XxBigD1ckM1k3xX sounded like he was 14 years old and likely had one of those really fine mustaches that he’s been trying to let grow in since he was 11, combing it every so often in hopes that it would magically get darker.

No one on our team responded at all, until Epyon started meowing. It was faint at first, but as everyone on our team joined in, the cacophony of adult men meowing effectively drowned out the opposing team’s comments of rape and us being fags. Also, at the time, there was something ridiculously comical about it. While we could have all just easily muted them, had we started winning the match, we wouldn’t have the opportunity to meow at them in the game. That’s a golden “in your face” chance you seldom want to pass up.

It’s reasons like this that make PGL one of the main reasons I’m still gaming. Everyone here shares a like-minded vision: to have fun while gaming. Without this place, we’d be much smaller numbers against perpetual common-senseless clowns online, and quite frankly, I probably would have thrown the towel in years earlier.

Everyone here works hard to make this a sanctuary for gamers that share in a common vision. We’re here to have fun, and to avoid the persistent malarkey of online windbags, and if not for all of you, I’d probably be reading more. And that just scares me.

Great stuff, fellas! Wish I could've been there. Nonetheless, I am also here at PGL for the great community each of you have created, over time. Never a dull moment, for me. Thanks to all of you!

WORD. I have been on Live since it started and I never really built a friends list of people I consistently gamed with. The past five months I have been on PGL have been awesome and I have had a great time playing with anyone I have met on PGL. Everyone has been super cool and I have never been turned down a request for a invite if there was room. This really is a great site!

Wonder I totally agree with you. Having people to play with every night and win or lose we are having a blast makes it so much fun to be part of PGL. I know there have been a few times where in the lobby the teams would be talking trash and then in the game we were losing very badly but it didn't matter. We were having such a good time and laughing so much that when the game ended and we were back in the lobby that the other team didn't say much. Because we were still talking about whatever it was and it was like we were in our own world. Good times.

On a side note when I was reading your post I kept cracking up because you were talking about meowing at the tv. I just kept thinking of the scene in Supper Troopers. I haven't seen that movie in a while I might just have to watch it tonight. O here is the scene in case any of you have been under a rock and haven't seen it. Its one of the funniest movies I have ever seen.

Nice meowage. Way to just show those kids how to play. Those kids bug me but it's always funny to show you can win and still have fun even if you lose.

I have been part of a few matches like you describe. I always have to mute my mic when they start their taunts because I start laughing knowing the beating they are going to take.

Each time the members of the SMC (Small Mustache Club) go away beaten and humiliated.

This reminds of a time not too long ago playing Halo 3 team slayer match and waiting in the lobby to start. This little SMC member was talking major smack, and you could tell he was maybe 10-13 years old. Anyways, one of the older gamers (Thicker Moustache With A Little Gray Coming In Club....if you will) waiting in the lobby, nicely told him to quiet down. The kid then started bringing in mothers and other school yard crap.

I remember this next exchange because it couldn't have been said at a better time.

The kid said to the older guy, "Well at least I am not in my 40's playing video games still!" The older guy simply replied, "but you will be playing in your 40's, right?" The kid paused for a second or two and said softly "yeah". Then the older guy said, "Then shut the FU*K up!".

I had to laugh a little 'cause the kid never said anything else the entire match.

How come everyone else gets the cool screen names...like ThorHammerChod62.6, CrazySputoMopperMonkeyHEadStomperKillerDeathSLYR!R ULZ987656, and xXLargeMulletHammer0069, or xXxXxXxXXxxxxXXXXX420SmokyHazyBongSpillaz420xXxXxX xXx, etc...

P.S. I find incessant meowing strangely arousing.

Please Add

Meow - [me-ow] - slang

1. A (usually repeated) sound that is made to block out/counter-attack "General Public" annoyances such as; immature children, l337 H4X0Rz, Uber Noobs, and clems (this includes adults and teens alike).

Sounds like you guys pulled a me, i do some random crap sometimes when a person starts annoying/irritating me, it always seems to work cause usually you talk back or get angry which just fuels their fire. BTW Monkey those paragraphs are beautifully written & edited.
