Alright everyone, Friday night (4/11/08) is the Halo 3 King of the Hill Event, Part Deux (or the real deal, whatever you want to call it). We had tried this before when the first map came came out, but you cheapies out there didn't buy it and we ended up trying to patch the event together on the wrong maps...
Not this time! The first map pack is now entirely free, so we can use the real Monkeyball Stadium and get this thing on.
To the un-initiated:
Monkeyball is a no-skill required game. If you can pull the RT and move the left stick, we're in business. You may occasionally hit the LB to pick up the monkeyball, but that's it.
Two teams of three face off in a court. Each team has a base. A bomb (monkeyball) spawns at the center. All you have to do is pick up the ball (LB) and score it in your opponents base (simply cross it). Each player is armed with only a gravity hammer. It's simple, but the tight quarters and non-stop action are great!
Here's how the event will work:
At 10:30 Eastern, Supa and Quo will open rooms (actually I'll open first, followed by Supa when we have enough). Your host will randomly assign you to a team of three. Two teams will play while anyone else in the room, host included, stands to the side. Winners will party up and pick a captain. The captain will get an invite from Room 2 (Dlitch). They move on, the other team is sent back to the player pool and randomly re-assigned.
In Room 2, you'll get 2 chances. Lose twice and you're knocked back down. Win and you advance (once Room 1 opens), lose and you stay (loss 1) or get kicked (loss 2). After your second loss, you're booted back to the player pool and you may re-join Room 3 or Room 4.
Room 1 works the same way as Room 2. Lose, you're all the way at the bottom. Win, and you stay at the top of the hill! Whoever's at the top of the hill at 1:30 AM wins the event.
All PGL'ers and PGL friends (adults... please keep it to 21+) are welcome at this event. There are, again, no pre-assigned teams.
You don't have to, but it'd be great if you'd RSVP so we know how many hosts we need.
See ya there!
