FNFF: The Over the Hill King of the Hill
The King is NOT dead. Long live the King!
Despite persistent rumors about the death of Halo 3, it's basically the game that just will not die. For diehards, new additions to the maps (the new maps are fantastic, by the way, and will be free soon!) breathed even more life into an already fantastic game.
For the rest of the crowd, Halo 3 had to adapt a little to stay in the foreground. It's built to do
exactly that. Adapt. Thanks to an unbelievably customizable ruleset, the game can be played in many, many different ways. Recently, a new game has been rising to the top.
Griffball. It's essentially a single-room game in which players spawn at each end of the room, battle for control of a skull in the center of the room and try to carry it an score it in their opponent's base... which is right out in the open. Players don't have shooting weapons. They spawn with a gravity hammer (and in Griffball, a sword).
Our own variant of the game (Monkeyball) eliminates the sword and nerfs your shields a hair. The ballcarrier gets an overshield. The resulting game is fast paced and requires
little to no Halo-skill.
Trust me on this, as I have none, and I can play. For friday night's event, you won't need the new maps! We've created a special map on a standard Halo 3 map. We'll have it at the ready. If you want it in the meantime, it's in my (Quo's) fileshare. Wondermonkey has the Monkeyball variant in his fileshare. Practice away, but it will do you little to no good. The game is all about fun, luck, quick respawns and total mayhem.
The format for Friday's love-fest will be King of the Hill ... no, not the Halo 3 variant!... The first room will start around 9-9:30ish Eastern. Three players will start atop the hill. To dethrone them, a new team of three will have to beat them. Once the original team is defeated, those players are thrown back into the player pool. Random teams of 3 will be grouped to take on the current Kings of the Hill. At the end of the night, when no one can take it anymore, we'll crown the
Kings of the Hill.
So wear your best armor, and join in the fun. Hopefully, we'll have enough for several rooms... we'll just pass people back and forth from room to room occassionally to keep things fresh. Heck, if we have enough rooms, we'll tier the rooms... one room will be the championship room, below that will be a second tier, third tier and so on. Win enough, and you're at the top of the hill. Lose, and you're shoved all the way to the bottom.

Just for grins, I'm proclaiming myself, right now, today, as of THIS MOMENT, 5:08 pm and 52 seconds, Eastern Standard Time, January 15, 2008... the King of yo' Hill. All yall bitches report to my hill and gaze up at me in my glory on this Friday night. My faithful sidebitches, The Monkey of Wonder and SleazyKeezy, will defend me against all your silly attackses.
