Omega bass pedal review

Well after breaking our diamond plate reinforced pedals at the hinge,
(our new drummer is a madman), I decided to step up to the plate and buy an omega pedal.

Ordered it on 4/11 and it arrived on 4/22.

It arrives in it's original Pearl box inside of another shipping box.

After a short assembly/adjustment period, it was ready to rock.

I was very impressed with the quality of the product, and the ability to adjust every detail of the operation, with a provided tool kit in it's own pouch.
You can adjust the beater angle, pedal throw, spring tension, and pedal angle.

The mechanisms are pure pro, and very well designed.

This thing was so impressive, I was amazed, even the mods that were done with the microswitch were very well done.

The beater comes down and strikes the bracket, giving a thump feedback that really makes the experience feel real. Our kit is up on a raised wood carpeted riser platform, and it doubles as a bass drum with the thump of the beater.

As for performance, I can tell you that there is a huge difference between this real pedal and the toy pedal that ships with the game.

The way the spring is setup, it actually bounces back up just right to keep time with the song perfectly. Hard to put the feeling into words, but trust me it is a great feeling.

I was able to get through sections of songs that I could not before, and my ankle did not hurt as it always did with the crappy stock pedal and that stiff spring.

It truely makes playing the drums much more fun.

My only gripe was the shipping/handling charge of about 18 bucks seemed real steep for a ground shipment.

I think the total came to about 89 bucks.
If you take your drumming seriously, this is one of the best ways to improve your Rockband experience.

Sure, you could get a pedal and stuff and do it yourself, but it would probably be a hassle, and look kinda ghetto.

This setup is top notch, will never break, can be adjusted to your personal preference, feels and looks great.

If you were thinking about an aftermarket pedal, I gotta believe this one is the one to get.

Wow - that does look bad ass. I finally got a chance to play some rock band at Pickle's during PickleJam and the bass pedal sucked ass. In addition to simply being in the wrong place (for whatever reason it just didn't feel right in either of the two available 'slots'), the responsiveness was just odd. Nice to know there are some options available. Thanks for the info!

That thing looks freakin' cool! If my pedal breaks, I will definitely pony up to get this bad boy for sure. Maybe I won't wait until then and just pick one of these up anyway!

I wonder how much the parts would cost to build it. The Pearl P-120P can be had for $40. Might be an easy project in the end. $90 just seems a bit steep to me.

Also, a little tip for all the omega pedal owners: be sure to replace the spring on the side of the pedal every 6 months or so. It loses its springiness after a while, making the pedal loser (some may like this feel, I don't thought). The springs will only set you back about $3-$5, which makes it easy to have some extras around.

Yea, I know it could be done cheaper, We do our own mods all the time, but sometimes it is just nice to sit on the couch and click, and then just basically plug it in when it arrives.

Our drummer bought us a 42 inch Plasma TV for rockband,so I had no problem buying us this pedal.

My beef was not the price of the unit, but in the shipping charge.

Still worth it in my opinion.

Brad - nice info on the springs bro! That's great to have some on hand just in case considering how cheap they are.
