I have been into videogames for many years.
Racing games used to be the genre of choice.
We custom built 2 racing "cockpits" with real Subaru seats, steering columns, and pedal "firewalls".
We would link 2 games together, and do head to head racing on big screen tv's opposed to each other.
Well the LAN support seemed to go away from most racing games, but I still have the cockpits that were just gathering dust.
I had an idea.
Turn one into a drum riser kit.
We dont race anymore, or play any other game, for that matter since Rockband launched, so recycling this "peripheral" was a great idea.
After a trip to the hardware store for some 3/4" pvc and some u-bolts, and a little drilling the "sky drums" were created.
The drum head fits right into the adapter, everything is fully adjustable, and it works fantastic.
The advantage is that the drums are in line with the screen, as my main tv is elevated on top of the entertainment center, and gives you that elevated "feel" of a true rock and roll drum kit.
Another advantage is that the pedal mounted on the wedge provides a more comfortable position for less foot fatigue, and the position is way more relaxing.
I am 6'7" so it needed to be adjustable, and since it was designed for racing it can accomodate a kid up to someone my size with the seat slider, and adjustable pedal mount.

As an added bonus, the plate originally used as a steering wheel mount surface now serves as a "cowbell" with the sound exactly spot on to a cowbell.
The whole unit is mounted on industrial casters and rolls out of the way when not in use.(has not happened yet, we use it just about every night.)
Just thought some of you might get a kick out if this, it is much better than the standard setup for my application.
