psp questions

before i dive in with questions, im not sure if im allowed to post this stuff or not, im looking to start a discussion about psp firmware hacks and whatnot, is that allowed? pm me if im wrong for posting this and nuke this thread, thanks

As far as I'm concerned, the information is out there. So long as you are not providing downloads or links to downloads, discussing the stuff that can be done and the possibility of bricking and whatnot is okay. We do not condone piracy, however, so any talk about downloading games or hacking to play downloaded games is off limits. Thanks for asking Namehater!

do any of you fine folk tinker with your psp? im currently running firmware v2.81, im in the process of trying to get a hold of lumines so i can run the downgrader to v1.50, i dont want to buy it, so im hoping that GYG will have one laying around for me

Well I do know that you can also downgrade the PSP with Grand Theft Auto. So if they don't carry Lumines you can always rent that. There is a forums that discusses PSP hacking more. http://www.pspmod.com is where you could find out what you need to know.

on this topic, i got my homebrew and all that working really well, i came across a forum for psp mods and such, had a guy make me a custom profile, all the icons and sounds are GoW related, and when i turn it on, instead of that normal psp screen flashing up, if says namehater in lime green, its neat

but i hate mobile gaming so it sits there, i should sell it... like-new 'phat' psp with unlocked firmware 2gb memory card... hmm, think its worth anything?

I dont know if a PSP is worth squat. Just hold on to it like me, Im not sure what Homebrew actually is, but im guessing its like a Tweak and lets you mess around with icons and lets you add some emulated games.

I gave my Brother my PSP so he could give it to a friend who is gonna work on it a little. Im gonna throw some NES, Genesis, & PS1 games on their and just play with that. Other than that im waiting for some Catchy PSP games to come out. I heard some people put Counter-Strike on their PSP thats what i want to do.

I'm just now checking out this thread... sorry for the late response.

When I mentioned somewhere else that I wanted you (namehater) to start another thread to talk about homebrew on your PSP, at that time I thought that Homebrew for the PSP was some sort of program that allowed you come up with recipes for brewing beer or something (homebrew in my world means to brew craft beers in your own home). I was way off base!

Now that I know what it is and I'm 99.9% sure that I'm getting a DS Lite instead of a PSP, I guess it doesn't concern me anymore. Thanks though.

there is homebrew for the ds also, but ive never really read into it, might be worth looking at

Yeah, I have a little bit. I'd do almost anything to have Super Metroid on the DS. Most of the other games I'd really want were already created for the GBA. Mario Bros 3, Zelda: A Link to the Past, etc.
