| Thanks Alpha. I've read up on the modding and don't want to do that. Sometimes the stuff I get from Sony requires updates to the latest and greatest and I don't want to miss out on the games they send every now and again. I would like to know what other kind of stuff I can legitimately put on there. | |

But what are you actually looking to do with your PSP?

| Right now I just play it - and unfortunately not as frequently as I'd like. Last time I Checked on that site it was mostly modding, but I guess they might have some other info there too. I'll check it out again. Thanks Alpha! | |

So even with a custom firmware you will have all the features the regular firmware of that same version has. But I can understand not wanting to go into all that.
legit stuff, music and movies, you can do everything with copying a file from your hard drive and pasting it into the appropriate folder on your psp. Movies have to be in the mp4 format. I have a program that i got with the usb from EBGames, its from codejunkies called "max media manager for psp". Its a pretty good program, basically just a file managing program. But it does convert video files for you. You can see your game files for each game and actually know what they are too, which has been helpful when using more than 1 mem card.
You should be able to download this program free somewhere. Do you ever download torrent files?
If you can't get the program I can list the folders for you, and you can just manually put whatever files you want into those folders like music and video files.

| Thanks Paniro! Any info you can provide in terms of where to put stuff so that the PSP will recognize it would be great! Thanks! | |

What firmware do you have?
You should really try to download that program though. It really converts teh video files nice and easy, you can select the level of quality which changes the size of the file, etc, pretty decent.

| Looks like I'm at 3.72 right now. Not sure what the latest version is. I haven't updated in a while - usually only when I pop in a game and it forces me too.
What do you think about these options versus the max media manager? PSP Video Express PSPVC PSP Video 9
The first one is supposedly decent and free and I believe one of them was super fast (can't remember which one now). Or should I not bother and just pick up the Max Media Manager you recommended?

Join Date: Nov 2007 Location: NJ Age: 28 | those programs look like they are ok. The thing that i like the max media manager for is its very simple, and it manages all the psp files, including video, music, photos, game saves. Those other programs are just video converters. I'll probably try out the video express one to see how it is. Might have better options for converting video files which could be useful.
I bought the max media manager at EB when i got the cable. But you can download it on a torrent site like mininova, that is if you have a torrent program and all that. If not maybe i can just upload it for you or somethin if you like.
Files, if you were to look at your main folder for the psp if you connected it to the pc, you should have a folder there for video, picture, and music. So just copy and paste files into the appropriate folder and you should be able to play it. Movies have to be mp4.

I haven't tried the psp version yet but I used their other apps to convert stuff for my 360 before MS started supporting more codecs. ImTOO DVD to PSP Suite - Convert DVD to PSP, PSP Movie Converter
There are trial versions so you can try it out first.

I dont know if its legal, What should be illegal is owning a psp without this stuff, Cause it was just sitting in my Desk. The only times i ever picked it up was to either grab something under it or check to see if there was any battery acid. This system has gotten no play since MIDNIGHT CLUB DUB EDITION released for it.
For the Emulators im pretty sure the battery has to be tweaked...or i think. into what they call a pandoras battery, i read somewhere that you can make your battery into one or order one online.
Now im not sure if the emulators need this, My brother took care of that and just brought over a 500gig HD and asked me what emulators i wanted and games for them. He also had to replace all the original folders on the psp Card with different ones. its pretty wierd when you explore it, But i do know that my Firmware version is almost like the original....not updated at all. Im not sure if the update messes anything up but when and IF i plan to get a new game then thats when ill see.
I dont see nothing illegal about emulators for Genisis, Nes, Snes, Neo Geo.
You can tweak your Iphone I can Tweak my PSP, and if they expect me to go and by all the old NES games, then screw them, cause they are on peoples cpus and Palm pilots. And im not gonna go buy Segas, Capcoms, Midways, Etccc..... Greatest classic hits. Lmao
So if you really want I can try looking at my PSP for details
