This is relying on the idea that the PS3 was hampered by the lack of compelling titles at its launch coupled with the high entry price. Since both of those are pretty much nonsense now, the sales figures are already looking decisively different.
Tech goes on to explain how the Halo effect is starting to wear off of the 360 and the PS3 has been consistently outselling its number one rival in the UK. After the price cut of the PS3, sales doubled from about 5,000 to nearly 12,000 per week. It's interesting, but the PS3 is really starting to get into a comfortable number two position everywhere but the US. The Wii is getting a little nervous, as the gap between sales with the PS3 is continuing to narrow as well. Originally 6-to-1, the gap has shrunk down to 2-to-1. In time, it may shrink to an even more favorable gap for Sony, but for now, the race is getting closer. link

If Nintendo was really worried, they should have responded by, oh, I don't know, making more systems! I would love to see an increased demand for PS3 products, for sure. Those are our major problems with those two systems. Can't sell Wii games/accessories because we can't get systems and we can't sell PS3 games/accessories because people haven't wanted the systems (I am referring only to our store). I would like to see a turn around on both their parts.

| Big N isn't even thinking about the PS3 right now. For some ungodly reason, the Wiis are still selling like hotcakes. | |

I predict the Wii will still be harder to find than any other console due to it's price. We'll see how the "arcade" does - but Sony is gonna suck it this season, too - that's my prediction.

| I agree that the 360 Arcade and the Wii will rule the roost this holiday. $400 is still a little much for a lot of people to give as a present. | |

I think Sony will be banking on Q1/Q2 of next year. That'll be when I buy mine.

| They still have many unsold boxes of the 60GB model around here.
If I can snag several of the A2 HD DVD players I will give them out as Christmas presents. There is no chane of that happening with the PS3 for me. Plus I think the best US version of the PS3 is gone, the 20GB(all black) version. I'm glad I got mine last year.
I use it for what the PS3 is best at, BD(Blu-ray Disc) playback. Hopefully Sony will start offeringing movie and TV downloads soon, like XBL so I can get more use out of my PS3.
