Rumor: PlayStation 3 To Provide True 3D Gaming?

How much further can gaming really go? Well, according to the latest tech-related rumor, quite a long way. We're talking about 3D, and not the 3D pioneered by the likes of Mario 64; no, we're talking about actual virtual 3D. Could the PS3 provide such an unbelievably simulated experience?

This rumor started due to a GameSpot report that talked about a 3D video demonstration held by Mitsubishi, where a comment was made regarding Blu-Ray players feasibly taking advantage of the tech on display. No mention of the PS3 popped up, but as Sony's game system is also a BD player, it is only logical to assume this new tech could apply to the PS3. This turned into speculation that Sony might eventually prepare a 3D-enabled PS3 console in 2008, and while certainly not confirmed, we still think it's a seriously cool idea.

If Sony could manage a true 3D experience on their gaming system, it would definitely give them a leg up on the competition. They already have the most advanced and capable (on paper) console on the market, but this could turn into one hell of a marketing campaign, couldn't it? "The closest we can get to virtual reality, only on the PlayStation 3?" Stuff like that? Well, anyway, Sony has yet to comment on any of this, but it's still fun to think about.

Until I see a video I really don't understand how 3d games can get any "more" 3d I would have to see a video. We can already move an in-game avatar through 3 dimensions how could we possibly get "more" 3d.

All I know is I cant frigging wait for Fallout 3, ProtoType Heavenly Sword and so on, The ps3 came out as a console ment to just take over how people were going on, its had its rough patch imo its a underdog thats going to end up taking the market by storm, Killzone 2 looks so amazing i literally cant put it into words, and with home, like its just going to be crazy man sony have imo upped the ante ALOT since its release, some really good games out within next month or two, haze heavenly warhawk R&C ect alot of big sellers will no doubt boost console sales, and according to PSM3 (mag im beginging to subscribe to) mentioned a rumoured price drop in europe sometime when PES 2008 is out.

So...All is looking for well for sony is all I can say really, Gotta let the games do the work of sucking in customers and one reason I think the ps3 isnt doing the best it can is because of home not being out yet, home is like sony's dashboard of the 360, Without it your left with a big hardrive, browser and a store to dl trailers and the odd game, With home and some special attention to the store sony can really do well imo, Ive converted not in a fanboi way but im confident sony will pull through and do well so im not gonna be going back to the xbox. you get wat you pay for afterall

Idk... I enjoy my Xbox live but its good to see ps3 gaining some steam. If it was still doing the way it was doing the way it was to begin with then Microsoft really wouldn't have a similar competitor, and the RROD BS would probably still be unfixed.

Xbox is a good system it probably just could have used a few more months of testing and development to make the fixes that are only coming about now. Microsoft took a big risk putting the system out a year before ps3 and they probably lost many customers because of it. Hopefully they will learn from this next and not screw up the next generation.

Yeah the xboxes are good but Im one of them people who got fuked about having to send it back every month I owned it, so I ended up trading it in, Cant beat the ps3 imo it looks lush, its more than just a console, if you want a home entertainment system thats it lol, And next year I hope eu will get that dvr recording for it, Be pretty much sorted then record hd channels and watch blu ray movies, play next gen games, and with a web browser and amazing online community WHEN home is out. Its a all in one, in my opinion (waits to be shot) its good value for money, people just need to do their homework.

My brothers best mate sold his xbox 360 ,it broke after using it 3 times, bought a ps3, had it since release , no problems, hes just recently bought a Elite so he can play his xbox games again (still kept his ps3) he enjoys em both but he has spent more on the xbox than the ps3 because of the gay failure rate. MS know what their doing, its sly and cunning. Sony ftw

Ditto mate, I cant stand them anymore, I dont even play my brother's anymore, I cant stand them, im used to the ps3 controller now, xbox is alien to me now with not using it for so long.

Imo I find the dasboard very bland and boring, I think home is going to be a pretty big step up in online gaming, Not just saying it cus Im begining to like sony but...

A 3d home with rooms clan rooms you can decorate, I.E you could put big posters of rosters ofmatches onyour walls by saving em onto your ps3, loading em into the frame ect. Can be very good with abit of imagination.

Furnishing, Chatting text/voice text imo is gonna rock, because msn on the 360 BLOWS you cant use another addy,its the one the live account is signed with, meaning I had my brother's msn buddy list, no-one I knew practicaly, Whoop-de-do ms you cocked up again lol.

Also body size,skin tone height is available, pretty much able to make yourself which is cool,
