Anyone try out "Bully?"

Just curious if anyone had picked up Bully by Rockstar games yet? I know it's only for the good ole PS2 but it looks like a nice little diversion.

Thanks,

Out of curiosity, is it just for ps2?

Edit: Yes, yes it is.

A diversion Yes, but for 50.00, its a pricey one, especially seeing as there are a lot of toys headed our way in the next 4 to 6 weeks....360 games, Wii launch, PS3 launch.....

If the game is 20.00, ignore my post entirely lol

I think it's $39.99. It got a 10 out of 10 at 1UP, so I'll pick it up on the way home. See if there's any life in the old PS2. I've only played 2 PS2 games since the 360 launch...Shadow of the Colassus (sp?) and God of War. Both of which I think are better "games" than anything I've seen yet on the 360...but I still love me some 360!

If youve got the 40 bones laying around, go for it. If I needed a diversion, Id dive back into Oblivion(lord knows I have 500 hours left)

Oh and I puked a little when you mentioned 1up. I'd trust my dog more I dont base any game purchase on any websites reviews, but they are jthe worst of the worst. If its got a Rockstar or Square label on it, they will praise it, unless its on a MS or Nintendo console ofcourse

Offtopic but seeing as you mentioned some ps2 titles, go post your Favs here...

Spoon:

True as usual. Is it totally impossible for today's universities to actually produce any unbiased, agenda-driven journalists anymore? It doesn't matter what the media outlet, there is no objectivity anywhere.

Anyhow, I got the game (Bully) today at Best Buy (had some gift cards left over anyhow) and the last two XMen DVDs as well. I'll post a review once I get a chance to try it out.

Also, you're dead-on with the Oblivion thing. I have so many unfinished games it's ridiculous. It seems the really good ones are the only ones I can force myself to finish. Oblivion was just too big to finish, and I should go back to it soon to get a bit further in it.

But, with all the other new games coming out over the next 2 months...it may be wishful thinking. Argh...need...more...time!

Alright, not an "official" review of the game by any means, seeing as I'm just barely into Chapter 2 on Bully. However, here are my impressions:

Good -
Pretty dang funny in most parts, the "kids/teens" in the game and adults are very stereotypical, but Rockstar has put alot into making this a funny game overall.
The difficulty is pretty fair, some of it gets hard, but other parts are pretty easy.
You can "unlock" or learn some pretty interesting fighting moves, all of which are easy/logical to pull off.
Seems like it will be a very deep and long game, seeing as I've been playing a few hours every night for the past 3 nights and am only to Chapter 2. There are a lot of side missions, and main missions, plus mini-games and just random stuff to do.
Not nearly as mature as GTA or Saint's Row. For those people who would like a "sandbox" game like GTA, but don't really want all the R-rating that goes with the genre, this is a good choice. It by no means is "kiddie" but it is also not R/X-rated.

Bad -
I must be too spoiled by the 360 and it's beautiful 1080i graphics, beacuse looking at Bully in 480i for too long makes my head hurt. The graphics themselves are very good, but the lack of clarity being in 480i is just annoying. How can anyone, even on the old PS2, make a game that is only 480i. If you played GTA:SA and didn't mind the graphics, then this will be an improvement (I couldn't stand the graphics on GTA:SA for that reason).
It starts REALLY slowly. The training missions are useful, but you want to get into it and play faster than it allows you.
The clock is your enemy in this game. Between getting to class (which goes away further into the game), curfew, buildings closing at certain times, etc. it gets to be kind of a pain.

Overall -
For $40 I think it's worthwhile. Don't expect another Oblivion, or GTA following, but it's a good distraction, and well worth $40. When the new wears off of it, and it drops into the $20-$30 range it should make it into more collections at that point.

Later,
