Cogswell Polytechnical College announces an exciting new exhibit for The Gallery at Cogswell. Factor 5, Inc. of San Rafael will present work from its eagerly anticipated video game, Lair. The exhibit will run from June 2 through July 27. Lair, a dragon combat action game, was developed by Factor 5 and will be published by Sony Computer Entertainment for its PlayStation® 3 platform.

The team at Factor 5 has created a world where volcanic activity has choked the skies. Mankind has been divided into two kingdoms – the Mokai, whose arctic wastelands are no longer capable of sustaining life, and the Asylians, who inhabit the last remaining green and cultivatable earth. In this dying world, one warrior will decide the fate of two civilizations. The stage is set for epic battles as the player swoops through the air on the back of a dragon in a game that takes full advantage of the PlayStation® 3.

Join the Factor 5 team on June 2 for a reception and panel discussion on the making of Lair. Learn first hand from the development team – several of whom are Cogswell alumni – how story, artistic decisions, and gameplay came together in this unique project. How did the backstory for Lair develop? What do dragons bring to the gameplay experience? What sets Lair apart from other games? What challenges did the team encounter as they designed the game?

The panel discussion will take place from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. with an opening reception to follow from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Prior to the Lair event, Cogswell will host an Open House from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. Take this opportunity to learn more about our degree programs, meet our faculty and ask questions. The public is invited to both events.
