I can't exactly trust any supposed confirmation from Sony, their track record is a joke, and Gamestop employees will be the last to know any definite answer.

People will have to wait and see whats in the box when they open it.

Confirmed at the Sony event in SanFran yesterday, Composite cables Only packed in with both Skus, across All regions. You'll need to buy Component or HDMI cables seperately.

I guess the better ad another $50+ to the sheet for there side. If they are saying how much cheaper there box is.... Although I know the core only comes with the same cables right?

that's a little bit disconcerting to hear but, you know... they are losin' tons on each unit so I don't quite blame them for trying to make it up elsewhere!

That's what I was thinking...my Premium 360 on launch day had a component cable with it. Plus, I'm kind of a cable snob, but dang if that component 360 cable that came with the system wasn't some nice stuff. A real treat for an "included" cable versus most of the Radio Shack reject cables that come packaged with DVD players and VCRs. I was impressed at MS doing it right...at least for their Premium SKU.

For Sony to package an HD source, even the high end SKU with nothing but COMPOSITE (not even S-Video) is an out-and-out insult at the price they are asking for the PS3.

I hate to say it, because I so really like some of Sony's products, but this PS3 launch is looking eeriely like a dang BetaMax all over again. Superior technology, but poor release and follow-through.

Well, I looked for a buncha photos of the 'HDMI out' on the ps3's backside and it looks like a reg connection, so I bought a $10 hdmi cable off of ebay. Screw paying 20-80 bucks for a sony one.

Yes its a regular HDMI, the problem is 99.9% of the buyers will get or need a component cable and thats NOT a regular connection(not from what I can see anyways). People who do get HDMI wont have the brains to shop around like Brew and will pay out the ass for Monster and such. 200% markup is wonderful aint it?
