Gamestop/EB taking PS3 preorders

Starting tomorrow(Oct 10th), a 100.00 deposit will get you a prepurchase receipt.

Ofcourse after the shortages they saw with MS, you can bet they will remind you buyers that quantities are very limited. If they dont over-promise, they wont have upset customers. If you find a store that says they are getting 20 or 30, be very very cautious.

Is everyone jumping on the Nintendo wagon? If so, i might as well drop my xblive membership. I will no longer support Nintendo. I love what xbox and PS do with backwards compatible. Nintendo changes cartridges size and shape and totally crap on their previous system owners. Might as well call them the Asian EA.

last time I went to gamestop and EB both... I heard a customers inquire about pre-ordering the PS3 and both times I heard the employee basically saying it's a waste of money.

lol, the local stores (Silicon Valley) have lines wrapped around the stores. Way more than what will be available for pre-orders..

Gamestop in the ghetto had 2 left, they only let me get one. Oh well, 5 hour road trip on release day to get 3 more. They swore up and down for weeks that was not gonna be a preorder. Asshats... At least I'll have one for sure that day.

99.9999% of all stores are ONLY getting 3 to 6 for preorders across the country, so again, if you someone tells you "Yeah you'll get one" and youre 10th in line, walk the eff out asap!

Hence why they sold out in a few minutes, doesnt take long to pre-sell 5 systems.

I just checked 5 or 6 other forums and the people who waited all said the stores they waited in line at were pre-selling 5 units total. You know there will be some that take 20 preorders and piss people off come launch.

The retailer has unveiled a “limited” pre-order plan based on a $100 deposit. Stores are receiving just eight units, with a maximum of two going to employees. The firm says some larger stores will receive up to 16 units. Either way, the allocation will be spoken for within minutes of the offer beginning.

GameStop has 4,400 stores in the U.S., meaning that its launch day allocation is probably round 10 per cent of the 400,000 units Sony says will be coming to North America.

There was a report at Engadget that the average EB/Gamestop would receive 16 PS3's, meaning that Spoon's 5-6 per store number is probably right on the money - assuming that any of these estimates are correct. I'm playing the wait and see this time around, and it will take much more to entice me into getting a PS3 than it did a PS2.
