I spent a fair amount of time playing Lair at Sony's Gamer's Event. Given the delays and the fact that the game is so different than most anything out there I was really interested in seeing if the hype was worth it. I'm sure it is not in final form yet, but what I saw did not disappoint.
Some of the video below is me flying the dragon around with one hand while holding the camera with the other. I couldn't breath fire while doing this, until I held the controller differently, etc. Anyway, it was even remotely possible because the flight of the dragon is controlled by using the six-axis controller. It is very responsive and a very natural way to control a flying dragon. I should know, I've flown dragons with other devices and well... alright, so this was my first time flying a dragon (other than overhead shooters back in the days). Despite my novice-ness, flight using hand gestures was very cool.
I was able to try out quite a bit of the demo and take out other flying dragons and whatnot. The cut-scenes were very nicely done and looked amazing. After playing it I will likely be picking up Lair when it comes out. I know it was one of the games I've been waiting for and I do not think I will be disappointed.
