PS3 Euro Launch Games Suffer Delays

While European gamers are still getting a better selection of games for their launch day than we had for ours, several big-name titles have been delayed. Five games have been pushed beyond their initial launch date of March 23, and that includes several Ubisoft productions.

Perhaps the most significant delay goes to Bethesda Softworks' The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It releases this week in the U.S. for the PS3, but Euro gamers are now going to have to wait until April 27. Those aforementioned Ubisoft titles are as follows: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent is pushed back a week to March 30, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 is now scheduled for June, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas simply has the new estimate of "spring 2007."

The last delay involves Vivendi's F.E.A.R., which won't make it until April 20. Euro gamers had hoped to see all of these for the launch, but it looks like they're going to have to wait a bit longer

Weird that ES:IV would be delayed considered it was just released.

Yup, people were playing it yesterday. Of course us Westcoasters seem to get stuff a day late a lot of the time.

People seem to be saying pretty much the same thing at other boards, faster load times, better framerate and better graphics. 360 is supposed to get some patch to update the graphic performance, not sure about framerate.

one example from gamefaqs

LOVE oblivion on PS3!! I am not stupid like 1up, and don't regret for one second purchasing the game again. It's given me a good excuse to start over and make a mage type character when I find it hard to start a new game on the same platform when I had so many save files already.

Not only that, but whenever I played the game on 360, it ran nice in certain areas, like dungeons or small towns...but god, especially when you're roaming the open world, the game seemed like it was struggling to keep up with everything on xbox 360. Even in smaller areas, i'd just be worried my xbox 360 was gonna blow up from all the work it had to do to play the game. Maybe it's just an illusion cuz the system is so loud. PS3 runs so quiet, and I dont hear the disc struggling everytime it loads a new area, that maybe it's just an illusion that the game runs better. Even if that is the case, I like it.

But on PS3, the framerate has been beautiful in every location, even in the open world parts. It dipped for a little bit when I got on a horse, but no where near as bad as the xbox 360 version. Plus, I can't help but think everything looks so much nicer up close. Maybe it's also because everything just seems to animate so well now on PS3. Monsters I fight seem so much more ferocious now that there isn't any dip in framerate.

The complaints about all the DLC not available on day 1 is so unwarrented, because that content is not meant for new players to just start exploring, it's meant for players who have already put many hours into the game, and want new things to explore. I have no doubt that they'll be made available on PS3 down the road, especially considering that bethesda said they wanted to make all the content available across all 3 platforms.
