PreGameLobby - System update 1.5 brings multitasking to XMB

"I am surprised that no one (not even the official playstation page) have mentioned that System update 1.5 brings multitasking capability to the XMB.

I discovered it yesterday by accident while browsing the web. I clicked the middle mouse button (a scroll wheel in my case) and all of a sudden, I was presented with the XMB and my web browser becomes semi-transparent. I could then switch to play music or do other things. Similarly, when I was playing music, I can click the middle mouse button and go to view pictures while my music is playing in the background. (BTW, my mouse also works in XMB, not sure if that's new or not).

I haven't had time to play with the SIXAXIS to see how to switch task, if someone can try it out (while I am working in my day time job), that would be great. "

So Jon, you're at home - try it out with the controller and let us know how its done! I don't have a mouse hooked up so middle mouse button isn't helpful for me.

I'd love to be able to listen to music while downloading or doing other stuff.

I wasn't at home when I last posted, but I'm at home now. I am trying it and no luck. With the controller, I pressed every button and nothing happened, except for the Circle button which just asks if you want to exit.

Dang, that's weird. Very weird. I wonder if there's a button on the remote that will do the same thing. I can try that next time I'm home too.

I tried all the buttons on the remote and nothing happened.

Also, I should mention, people are starting to show problems with movies (SD and Blu-ray) pausing for like 10-20 seconds and then either starting back up at the same spot or just skipping to the next chapter. This seems to coincide with the latest 1.5 upgrade.

I experienced this freezing tonight and also the night before. I hope it's something that they fix soon.

Oh man, that really sucks. Especially since the movie playback was so good before the update. Dang.

Yeah... it does. It only happened once per movie but still... never happened before the update to 1.5. I've read a bunch of people are having this problem, though. Hopefully enough that Sony'll make a fix for it right away!!

Roll back the update and try it out. I watched RV this weekend on BD and it was just fine.

yeah, I've watched two other movies and it was fine for those. It doesn't happen every movie, it's just every so often.

How do you roll back the update?

You can't. Once you update, there's no going back.

Updating or going back? There's a warning when you upgrade - "Once you upgrade, there is no going back" or something like that. I can't imagine they would warn you of that and then let you revert. Especially if some of the upgrades in the future are to crack down on piracy.
