PS3 remote

Is the PS3 remote available to order/preorder anywhere in the US yet? Not looking forward to having a non IR remote but it's got to be better than using the controller. Hopefully my system will show up by Thursday so I can try out a few BD movies. Won't have time to actually sit down for very long to watch it though.

It sounds like the PSP may be a remote for the PS3 along with the remote play option.

I can't stand using the PS3 game controller. I think the controller is nothing like the 360 controller. It just doesn't feel good in my hand and the stick placement is all wrong. I tried the Resistance game and I hated the controller. This is the first time I've used a Sony controller. I really don't like it. I'll be glad when they release this remote in the US so I can throw the game controller in my cabinet.
But at least the PS3 is an excellent BD movie and SACD playback device. Both over HDMI sound excellent.

It took me awhile to get used to this remote...I have been so conditioned to use an Xbox remote that the button placement felt odd.

The one thing that concerns me is charging. It looks like the PS3 needs to be on to charge the controller and the battery isn't removable. So basically I need to leave my PS3 on and plug in my controller in and leave it to charge....

You can charge it in any USB port. I plugged it into a USB port on my PC, which is on most of the time, and it charged the controller,

I believe if you plug it in before you turn off the PS3 it will still continue to charge, but if you plug it in after you turn of the PS3 it won't charge.

I don't think it does that. I thought I remembered trying that the first day but, it didn't work. But, the great alternative is just plugging it into the computer USB ports to charge it that way, I suppose.

I guess I'll be bringing my controller into work with me to charge! haha. I may have some 'splaining to do if anyone sees it plugged into my computer!! haha.. "its only charging, I swear!!!"
