2.4 Coming this Wednesday!

According to Kotaku, the new 2.4 firmware will be dropping on Wednesday. It will offer in-game XMB, custom soundtracks and trophies. The games that will have Trophy support are:

· LittleBigPlanet™

· MotorStorm™ Pacific Rift

· NBA 09 - PS3

· PAIN**

· PixelJunk™ Eden

· Resistance 2™

· SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation

· Super Stardust™ HD

· Warhawk™**

I'm looking forward to this for sure. A lot of the rumors were saying this wouldn't drop until E3, but this is a pleasant surprise. Let the trophy whoring begin!

They can still patch older games to have trophies. Plus I heard that only games that support it will have custom soundtracks.

Are there any sites out there that have things like Gamercards? The reason there are 360 gamercards and leaderboards are because MS lets certain developers tap into the backend of XBL. If PSN has this ability, I'm all for it!

Well I'm looking forward to this. I hope they patch MGS4 to do utilize trophies! I'd play through it again for trophies.

I'd have all of the Trophies in R&C already. I've got all the gold bolts, skill points, and I've upgraded all weapons to the max.

Nice! I just read that previous accomplishments will not trigger trophies, so you'll have to start anew. I'm not mad though... there aren't many released games on the trophy-enabled list anyway.

I don't know all of you, but a lot of these new features hit me with the excitement of a thud. It might have been different if I didn't see almost all of them on XBL. How about doing something useful like one userID to be used across all online games, the ability invite friends to play off one master friend list, or the ability to group friends into categories like practically all IM programs.

Trophies may be nice, but it doesn't make the online experience of playing better. If it's like XBL achievements, I'll use it to see what my friends have done on a game. Some games you're able to to tell how far in a game they are. Some of the achievements are just annoying. Recently I was working on Assassin Creed, and somewhere I missed one flag in Jerusalem and two Templars, which I think are in the Kingdom. And the only reason I even went after that stuff was for the achievements because collecting the flags and killing the Templars did nothing to advance the game; I would have did the Templars because it was fun taking them out.

You make some great points about the online but at least it's something. I got hooked to the acheivements on 360 so I hope I have the same with this.

Sony is improving a lot and at least there free online which is better than Live

What??? I say you will get what you pay for. I do not believe Sony's online will be free forever or it will get very laggy as they will make or offer to let the game vendors host the servers like EA/MS arrangement. It costs a great deal of money to maintain these type environments.

I don't think anyone is mad just giving opinions.
What I mean is I'll easily pay for the perks of Live as opposed to a free psn. It's just diffficult to get your friends together to play, chat or even know what others have to play.

I really hope that this update will do a lot to help that. Just to not have to leave a game to check a message. I'm excited because, unlike a lot of you PS3ers here, I just have the Ps3 and a Wii so I don't really have much of a choice. I'll take free PSN and a relatively worry free console. That's just me though.
