Getting my 1st PS3. What's good?

I am getting the PS3 bundled with MGS4 in a few weeks. What games are worth buying when I get the system?

I was thinking about:

Rachet and Clank Future
Heavenly Sword
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Resistance: Fall of Man

I don't know if they are worth a buy or just rent.

Any other suggestions?

i would check backwards compatibility on that model. if it works on that model id try and find psychonauts, i was made a believer, and so will you

as for ps3 games, i havent really found any that are must owns. my suggestion would be just plan on renting a few. the funnest game i have found is burnout paradise.

All great games- HS is the only rental cuz its short- but its a kickass game.

Ratchet is a must buy, most others you'll probably be set with a rental.

As far as backwards compatibility, it will be the same 80GB they had a few months ago that was bundled with Motorstorm. So it will not be as backwards compatible as the 60GB, but it still has a great deal of BC.

I've only played Motorstorm and Ratchet, but they are both great games. I keep hearing good things about Unreal Tournament too.

Super Stardust HD is a game that I keep going back to. It is a downloadable game for like $10. I also picked up Echochrome, but have been pretty busy. There is also Warhawk and Gran Turisomo Prologue available for download.

I agree with your choices and what Brew said about HS. There are also quite a few cool downloadable games in the store that are fun. Super Stardust is one of them. And crap if I can't think of the others I've played that have been fun.

I enjoy Ratchet and Uncharted, and would recommend picking up both. As far as all of the other games on the system at this point, I would say rent them and see if you like them. Resistance is a good game but I wouldn't pay $60 for it.
