It appears the Japanese PlayStation website has revealed several things that may or may not be confirmed by SCEA in the near future. According to SCEJ, the PlayStation Store revamp will be completed on April 15, and on that date, the new firmware update 2.30 will also release.
Update 2.30 should be ready to go in the "evening" of Tuesday the 15th, and by that time, the new-look Store should be up and running. Just in case you had forgotten what to expect from that, SCEJ tells us in a roughly translated list below:
New interface and navigation improvements
Preview video content using still images
New download categories added
Now, there's one other thing- according to Xtreme PS3, SCEJ is also offering a "PS Treasure Hunt," which runs from April 15 through May 12. We have been hearing about a big surprise from both SCEA and SCEE when the new Store goes live, and perhaps this is the promotion they're referring to. Basically, it will let every 50th Store peruser download a special "hidden application or game," probably for free. If it's every 50th person to log in, that means they'll be giving away a bunch of stuff...then again, none of this has been confirmed by SCEA or SCEE, so it's all just speculation. We'll keep you posted.
