PS3 attach ratio less than 1 game per console

Looks like the attach rate for ps3s sold to software sold won't be any better than it was with ps2. Regardless of why, its still not a good sign. It'll be interesting to see if they do any better in the states, but being so pricey to begin with, most will only be able to afford 1 game maybe 2 @ launch.

Enterbrain, publisher of Famitsu, has revealed the the tie-in ratio of software to PlayStation 3 sales is 0.98 – less than one game per console.

The figure suggests that a portion of the 88,400 units sold were bought with the intention of selling on as part of the 'grey market', the unofficial channel for second hand machines via internet auctions and retail stores, which label the stock as 'used'.

As previously reported, Namco Bandai's Mobile Suit Gundam and Ridge Racer 7 were the top-selling titles, clocking up sales of around 30,000 units each.

They only had four launch titles in Japan. There will be more to choose from here in the US so the attach rate should be higher.

You'd think so but its never been the case with a sony console. If anything, the ps3 seems to be suffering from "I want it for its hardware" much more than the ps2 did.

The ps2 had 20(22?) some games at launch and its attach rate was still under 1. A lot of people admittedly bought it as a cheapo dvd player though.

Now here comes the ps3 at 500 and 600 bones? 1 game will be what the average person can afford(notice I said average).

The hardcore will be buying at launch so 2 or 3 games is feasible, but I doubt it'll be any different than it has since the 1995 and 1999 launches(and those were much much cheaper consoles remember).

Tisk tisk tisk...I look at Sony now, and I can't believe that they are the same company that made a console that sold 100,000,000+ units. I will buy a PS3 next year for MGS4 and R&C5, I will keep it as a way to watch Blu-Ray exclusive movies.

After that, Sony gets no more of my money.......possibly ever.
