Early on in the PlayStation 3's existence, Sony was quoted as saying the rumble feature from the Dual Shock controller is a "last-generation feature," which is why it was left out of their Sixaxis game pad for the PS3. However, after a hell of an outcry from the fans, Sony decided to bring rumble back with the Dual Shock 3, which has been available in Japan since late last year.
So are American gamers just as excited about the impending release of the DS3 on April 15? Well, if Amazon.com is any indication, the answer is simple: yep. It is currently the #2 seller in the video game division at the site, and it's a special deal because you can grab the controller for $50 with free shipping. Considering the MSRP is going to be $54.99 and shipping and handling is about $5, this means you'll save about ten bucks if you act now! Obviously, this is going to be a very hot item in about one month's time, so perhaps you want to secure one of these ahead of time, just in case.
Many developers are already implementing rumble support in response to the Dual Shock 3, and the further we go, the more "rumbling" software we'll get. So if you were one of those who voiced their displeasure with the removal of the rumble feature from the original Sixaxis controller, your day is nigh. Rumble is coming back!
