HoT:SoS Rules Thread
Here are the Official HoT:SoS Rules. Make sure and check these, and team captains I would advise that you print these out and keep them handy for game nights. That way the order of things will be readily available.
Format:
Round Robin. Everyone plays everyone, with tie-breaker matches for teams with even records.
Times:
Matches officially begin at Midnight Eastern time on Friday, October 5th, 2007. However, once we announce matchups team captains are free to negotiate a match time on their own, as long as two matches are played on Friday night. If no agreement can be made, the default match time is Midnight eastern for Match 1, and 1 AM EST for Match 2. In other words, this thing will be moving along. Play your matches at or before the default time. If you don't, it's a forfeit.
The entire default match schedule is as follows (the same rules apply): - Match 1: Friday, October 5 -- 12 AM EST
- Match 2: Friday, October 5 -- 1 AM EST (I guess that's actually Oct. 6th. Shut up.)
- Match 3: Sunday, October 7 -- 11 PM EST
- Match 4: Friday, October 12 -- 12 AM EST
- Match 5: Friday, October 12 -- 1 AM EST
- Match 6: Sunday, October 14 -- 11 PM EST
We have 8 full teams. The official schedule is below:
Games:
Each match will consist of a best of 5 rounds. Here's the sequence of rounds. Play them in order. The rounds are specifically designed to enable you to reach Halogasm. Don't break the rhythm. - Round 1: Team Slayer to 100 points on Pit.
- Round 2: 2 Flag CTF on choice of Valhalla, High Ground, Last Resort or Construct. Loser of Round 1 chooses the map.
- Round 3: Rocket Race on Sandtrap. HERE is a link to the Sandtrap Race Map and Rocket Race game variant. Each team will need to have someone that has both of these items downloaded!
- Round 4: Neutral Bomb Assault on choice of Snowbound, Isolation or Epitaph. Again, team that is behind chooses the map.
- Round 5: Team Slayer with 75% gravity to 50 points on Guardian.
How many will play?:
Standard team size is 6. You can play with fewer, but the other team can still field 6 so get your team there! If both teams have 7 or 8 available and both teams agree, you can play with any agreed upon equal number above 6. Players who are there but not involved can watch but will not be allowed to comm with their teammates. Be fair.
Other simple rules for dating my... oh wait... for playing in HoT:Sos!
These go without saying around here, but just in case, make sure you obey the following. - No Spawn Camping -- please, if you're hammering someone on, say Valhalla (but any map, really), and you can see them spawning... treat them with respect. Let them pull their undies on before you pull toss rockets into that area. Just don't spawn camp. If you realize you're in someone's spawn area, back off.
- No Poor Sportsmanship (i.e. dropping during the match, rude name-calling, incessant complaining, etc)
- No racial slurs of any kind, whether in slang or directed toward someone.
- No glitching or abusing of the system.
----------------------------------------
I'm sure we'll be clarifying/editing. Make sure to check this thread for the latest rules, and definitely check on Friday night before we start for any last minute updates. I'll have Wonder put the Rocket Race map for Sandtrap in his fileshare if it's not there already, and each team captain needs to have it at the ready.

Uhhh... I think it's all there bro. You may have skimmed too much. Let me know if it's confusing.
Basically, each default match time is the drop dead date for that match. If the two teams can agree to play it at a certain time on their own before then, that's fine by me. If they can't, though, the default time is when the match is due to played. Captains should coordinate with their teams to decide they want to try to play at a different time. If they don't, then the match goes down at the pre-appointed time.
I only put this option in so that east coasties that have teams don't have to stay up until 2 in the morning if there's a way to get matches done before then. If that's not an issue for your team, then plan on playing at the default times. Your captains will inform you if there's a potential change in plans. Got it?

As soon as I have confirmation from all teams.
Right now:
Confirmed:
Goo
FaceMelters
Lords
GYG on
Hot 101 (pretty much)
Got Gauss
Unconfirmed:
Infinity
We also still have several free agents (right now about 5...). I'd like to form a team out of them so they get to play and we have an even 8.

I posted in the other HOTSOS thread. We should be good to go. Waiting to get confirmation from a couple others so we'll have a full team of 8. Other than that, we should be good to go. Glad to see we can play with less than 6 players, too.

um... stats
So I was thinkin maybe someone should keep track of the carnage reports and post some stats. That way we can see what the other teams have been up to and such. Maybe even have some tournament mvps or somethin... indeed

That might be pretty time consuming considering there are 5 rounds that will probably fly through pretty quickly.
I could be completely wrong on that though, and I'm sure Quo's the man to correct me if I am.

See the schedule, posted both at the top post in this thread and in the tourney signups thread.

We will be giving some awards, although the actual type of award hasn't been finalized and may not be what you think. I encourage everyone to keep their game replays so we can all have some fun with clips and pics of the mayhem.
As far as stats go, I'd love to do that. I may need some help though. With 64 players, that's a ton of stats to enter for 7 different matches of 5 rounds each per team. If I put together a spreadsheet to use, can I get some volunteers to help with entry of data? It would be much easier if we maybe 2 to 4 people total doing the stats entry. Everyone could then pass the stats to me and I could combine them all.
