Wednesday night the Broncos rolled into Texas Stadium for their opener with the Cowboys.
The Broncs took the opening kickoff and marched down the field, taking with them a large chunk of the first quarter. The drive bogged down around the 20, and the field goal attempt fell just short.
On the ensuing drive, the Cowboys also managed to move the ball pretty well, taking it all the way down to first and goal. But it wasn't meant to be. The Denver defense held and forced the boys to kick a field goal just to get some points on the board.
After the kickoff, the Broncs went deep right away... but Terrence Newman snagged a one-handed interception and stole the ball back for the boys. The Cowboys once again marched down the field, but this time Romo threw an interception in the end zone and the Broncs had the ball again on their own 20 a little more than half way through the second quarter.
Jay Cutler and crew moved the ball pretty well again at first, but Cutler threw a critical interception and the 'boys ran it back for a TD to make it 10-0.
The Dallas defense took advantage of another miscue on the next Denver posession, as DeMarcus Ware grabbed an interception in the flat and took it back 25-30 yards for another score to make it 17-0. The rest of the half was scoreless, although the Broncos were able to take 3 good shots at the Cowboys end zone before the half.
On the first posession of the second half, Terrell Owens broke free on a slant for a 65-yard TD to put the Cowboys up 24-0. Then, EA took over and we had to make some adjustments. After several attempts to restart, we finally got the second half played. The Broncos once again moved the ball well, but were stopped on a 4th down conversion attempt. Javon Walker beat the Dallas defense deep, but was ruled out of the back of the end zone. After trading some punts, Dallas ended up getting a FG out of a late drive to make it 27-0.
Denver added a TD on a long pass play to make it 27-7 with a minute and a half left, and Dallas ran out the clock to end the game.
Dallas 27, Denver 7
