Rules
Feel free to discuss the rules we will follow in this thread. The current ruleset will always be here, in the first post of the thread. We don't have a lot of rules (we like to keep things simple), but we are serious about these rules. Here they are:
RULE #1: Mind your manners. To my knowledge we've
never had a problem with this here, but let's make it rule number one anyway. Be a good sport. Be gracious in defeat and classy in victory. There are plenty of places to play Madden. If you don't want to follow this rule, feel free to check one of those other places out. I'm not kidding.
RULE #2: No cheesing. Cheesing can be defined in many ways, but the over-riding definition of cheesing is
taking advantage of game design in an obnoxious way to gain an advantage over your opponent. Some specific examples include running the same play over and over again, going for it on 4th down regardless of the situation, running the no-huddle offense for the entire game, etc.
SEASON END rule. We'll be playing a 16-game schedule, followed by playoffs. Its tough for everyone keeping up. We're all busy. But, if you've committed to the league we need you to play your games. The league schedule will mirror the NFL schedule. People will have illnesses and other legitimate excuses for being behind. That said, the time we've allotted is more than enough time. Schedule your games and play them. The season end is January 21, 2008. Any games not completed as of this date will be forfeited. The playoffs start on January 22, 2008.
Gameplay Rules- 5 minute quarters
- Injuries ON. Players who are injured will again be available in the case of a restart.
- Everything else set to default
- Use your team's playbook only
- You CAN play starters who are injured (you may have to re-order your depth chart to do so, and that's up to you)
- If a game is interrupted, restart play from the most recent finished half or quarter if at all possible. Just keep track of your score. Use your heads and be fair.
League Structure
We'll be using the league format from before the last expansion: AFC and NFC, with 12 teams in each conference and 3 divisions of four teams. Teams will play a 16-game schedule with 6 division games, 5 conference games and 5 non-conference games. The standings at the top of the page display the league line-up.
I've appointed conference chairs and division captains to keep tabs on the six divisions and keep in touch with people and make sure they remember to play their games. 24 people is too much for me to keep track of. Don't ignore them. Respect their efforts to keep things running. They're taking time to make sure your Madden League runs smoothly.
Conference Chairs:- AFC: Kamacauzie08
- NFC: Woundup
Division Captains:
AFC WEast: Kamacauzie08
AFC North: Keezy
AFC South: Schlickabod
NFC East: Quo
NFC South: Causedawg83
NFC West: Woundup
Schedule
A full copy of the schedule can be found HERE. Additionally, in case you're just looking for who you are playing this week, the weekly scoreboard will be available at the top of the
Madden Reporting Thread.
Reporting Games
Always report the results of your games in the League Reporting Thread. If you have a moment, also recap the game for us-- please post a highlight or two if you can. Everyone loves seeing what happened in the games, and keeps us all involved.
Reporting Stats
To streamline stat reporting, here's what I'd like for you to report:
For each team, please report:
QB: - Complete/Attempted
- Yards
- TD's
- INT's
RB (up to two -- and I mean pick two for the whole
season, just report the same ones each game):
WR/TE (up to 3):
Also:- Total Offense (NOT TOTAL YARDS)
- Turnover +/-
- Interceptions Made
- Fumbles Recovered
- Total Defense
If you give it to me this way, it'll be alot easier to keep track of. And obviously, the closer to this format you give it to me the better.
This is purely optional, so if you don't want your stats posted or don't have time to post them, just don't. I don't have time to track down everyone's stats. Also, there will be disconnected games where you don't have any stats. You can post partials if you are sure you remember them. Don't worry though... I'll probably take out the high and low, or take say the best 12 games from each player to "normalize" the stats.
Playoffs
Division winners plus 3 wildcard teams from each conference will make the playoffs. Tiebreakers will closely follow NFL tiebreaking rules. There will be a wildcard week (top 2 seeds in each conference get a bye), followed by a re-seeding and typical playoff tree.
Other Suggestions
Keep everyone in the league on your friends list. Someone has suggested, and I think it's an excellent idea, that we should be required to keep everyone in the league (or at least your schedule when it's ready) on your friends list for the duration of the season. It will really help with the communication. Several of us aren't really "forum" guys or can't even check the site with real frequency, so let's get it done. Friend up, people. I realize it's a lot of names, but it's pretty easy doing it through the xbox website or here at the site. There's a link from the PGL Leaderboard to each person's friend request, and ASpecialFriend was kind enough to post a thread with friend request links
here.

Feel free to banter about any additional rules you'd like to see. The only thing I ask is that we keep it pretty simple.
