PGL Madden League 2008 -- Team Draft

The official PGL Madden League Draft begins Tuesday, August 14th, 2008. I'll be sending out a reminder via XBox Live, so make sure and check in frequently and make you are ready to pick when it's your turn. Try to have several options in mind so you can pick when it's your turn.

Everyone please be patient. I don't really want to put a time limit on this, because people have varying schedules and can't check the boards every few hours.

I used Microsoft Excel's =RAND() function to randomly create a number for everyone, then used the =RANK function to create a draft order. The results are below.

The following draft list includes the members from last year's league (in green) in reverse order of finish, followed by the new members in random order:

Ok, Shibumi will start things off on Tuesday. When it's your turn, chime in and make your pick. Please, let's keep this thread for picks only. Make all the comments you want in another thread! And remember, everyone can't have their favorite team, and you can win with any team. People have listed their preferences in some cases, particularly when they have a true favorite. Everyone would like to have the top teams, but well, them's the breaks.

Anyone added to the league after 8/13/07 will pick in the order they sign up.

Ok, let's get this party started. Shibumi picks first.

Naturally, that complicates things. I emailed Shibumi yesterday (Monday) at lunch to make sure he was going to be involved but I haven't heard back from him.

Shibumi's a long-standing member here so I want to give him at least a chance to respond to the email and let me know he's going to drop by.

If he hasn't emailed me back by 1 pm Eastern we'll assume he's going to retain Tampa Bay. I don't want to mess Bumi over if he wants a new team, so I feel kinda stuck. I guess what we'll do is allow him to jump in at any time if he chooses and pick then. I.E. he shows up after the 6th pick, he can choose to stay with the Bucs or pick right then.

So we start at 1 pm if we haven't heard from him. Hang tight guys, this could take some time as not everyone has access to the web during the day. A couple of guys have sent me ordered lists and asked me to pick for them. Anyone who wants can do the same.

Not sure where I'd be if fill the vacant slot, but if I do fill the vacancy and pick this up at lunch, since I'm from SD can I have the Chargers? If someone ahead of me was gonna take them, that's coolio. I'm gonna suck regardless since I don't know how to play these foozball games!
