Make sure and schedule them again next year! Was it a rivalry game? | Apparently it is a rivalry, something about the "Tiger Rag" game. But, it appears to be a hammer and nail rivalry, as last night's loss would be the 17th consecutive loss for Tulane. If I had only kicked the field goal, at least they would have been forced to score a TD. Or, if I could have found a way to score a TD instead of 3 field goals, I would have won the game. Sigh...
I'll get a recruiting update out to you guys soon. Maybe the close defeat to a (barely) ranked team will help?

Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Hendersonville, North Carolina Age: 40 | WKU - Week 12 Recruiting Update WKU welcomes to the fold: Herbert "The Love Bug" Rodriguez, 4* TE from Ashland, OH. 6'4", 244. #5 TE Nationally. Key Ratings: B Spd, B- SPC, B- CTH, C CIT. D/D- BLK. Dave Young, 3* CB from Broadview Heights, OH. 5'10", 176. #61 CB Nationally ( ). Key Ratings: OVR: C-, Spd: B+, Z/MC: Cish, AWR: A-, AGI/ACC: B+.
I'm totally surprised by Rodriguez, he looked as if he were going to Ohio State just a week ago. I have three other 4* recruits that I'm dangling by a thread with... and a big visit weekend this week against MTSU...
--which I won 59-27 or so. After a brutal first half in which MTSU could do no wrong and had me knotted at 21, my defense finally kicked in. In the first half MTSU had 2 4th & 2's that he then broke runs of 30 yards on, as well as too many 3rd & more than 10's to count. In the second half I picked him off and drove the field to go up by 2 scores, then proceeded to stuff him on 4th down on back to back drives, responding by breaking long runs. My RB ended up with 375 yards rushing.
If that doesn't get my 4* RB recruit to sign, I don't know what will. Hopefully my WR recruit doesn't notice that I only passed for a few hundred yards...

Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Hendersonville, North Carolina Age: 40 | Some maintenance issues... We're nearing the end of season 1. 3 regular season weeks left, then conference championship week (which only Snake and maybe AZ will play in), then bowl games.
I'm already thinking offseason. After the bowl games, Sam will have to take the league offline (everyone be sure to save it as an offline league so there'll be backups in case we have a mess-up somewhere) for when there's potential for offers to BCS conferences. It's highly unlikely that that would happen for anyone in year one so we could potentially skip that part.
After that, here are the steps and what I'm proposing: 1. Players Leaving. Schlick and I tried this and due to EA's stupidity, anyone you talk into staying is actually gone when you get to the end of recruiting anyway. It's a glitch they aren't going to fix. I say we skip this step to speed things along. It would be nice to know who left, though... we may have to actually do the step just to know. Your thoughts, please... EDIT -- I forgot transfer requests here. I say turn recruiting assistance on and sim it. 2. Recruiting. 5 weeks of recruiting. I say we committ to doing this 5 nights in a row. It takes all of 20 minutes. If you miss, you miss a week of recruiting. It's not tragic anyway by this point. Some people may even elect to let the computer do the last few weeks as most of it's decided by then... plus the computer adds random recruits for you. Again, your thoughts...
3. Position changes. I love this and I'd rather not skip it. I take my time with it and I don't mind burning a night on it. The best thing about it is that you finally get to see your recruits' full ratings. Let's tack it on to the recruiting and if you don't want to do it you can skip it. 4. Training results. This is a do-nothing week, but you get your results back. It could be skipped over. Not a big deal either way to me. You can write down your best players ratings beforehand so that you see how far they've come and you'll never miss this one. You don't get to advance recruits anyway... you'll already have their #'s. 5. Cut Players. I don't see me wanting to leave this to the computer... 1 more night.
6. Pre-season. Have to do it or you end up with all 2*'s on your board. No one wants that... even Sam!
So, the off-season can be done on the above proposal in 8 nights: 5 recruiting weeks, 1 position change, 1 cut players, and one pre-season.
There are 4 choices overall: 1) sim it all. 2) the above, 8 night method, 3) do every step taking our time (could be a few weeks), or 4) do what Schlick and I did... agree on a night to get together and do as much as we can of it in one night. I loved doing it that last way, I'm just not sure there's realistically a night it will work.
Vote for your chosen method and share your thoughts.

I dont have a preference on whether we do one step a night or do as much as we can in one given night, just let me know what the league decision is

Getting all five of us together would be fantasmagorical. I guess we'll wait and see if that could happen. I know Thursdays are bad for AZ (and me, really... I couldn't get on until late). Any particular night we should try for? And what are your best hours of the day... in EST, please, so we're all on the same page (my page ).
I'm good most nights between 9PM and 12AM EST. With notice, I can extend those hours.
By the way, you all suck for not congratulating me on my tight end... my recruit (or recruits), that is... Snake congratulated me on my tight end at PAX. Boy, was that an uncomfortable conversation...

Maybe we should look for a specific date once the season is over, my schedule is so goofy.

I had a number of guys sign ths week. Nothing exciting, just 2-star players, but they did fill some of the many holes that needed filling. So, all together I have signed the following players:
3-Star DE
2-Star WR (x2)
2-Star TE
2-Star FB
2-Star SS
I also have soft commits from a 2-Star OLB, a 2-Star C, a 2-Star WR. and a 3-Star CB. I also am fighting to get an intriguing 2-Star WR. He is 6' 5", 171 lbs and has a B+ in speed. Bascially I'm trying to get Todd Pinkston.
This week I beat #11 BYU, 34-3 in the snow. Here is a snapshot of it.
Oh, I almost forgot! So, I'm dinking around looking at the Terrible league stats, checking the user coaching ratings, and I see this:
That's right, I have 6 wins and 58,592 losses. I suck!

Bascially I'm trying to get Todd Pinkston. | There are some steals out there in the 2*'s sometimes. Last year in one of my other dynasties I was able to pull two 2*s that should really help. I got a RB that was an A+ spd (turned out to be a 97 spd) with B+ trucking and was somehow still a 2* with like a 68 overall rating. He's not much for juking but the speed really helps on pitches and such. He's my backup RB and I stick him in the slot sometimes.
I also got a 2* WR that is 6'7" and A-spd (turned out 94 or 95). I redshirted him and I'll see how he is as a RS frosh. His catch and awareness ratings were pretty sucky, but i think he can still contribute.
Sounds like you're got 10 or 11 on the hook already. Sweetness!
