Dallas jumped out to 2-0 with wins over Houston and New Orleans.
Chicago beat Detroit in their season opener.
Cleveland beat Houston.
Sorry I didn't take the game last night, BigSexy. Kama had just pummeled me and I needed some time to figure out what the heck happened. I'm still trying to figure it out.
My disc has a habit of stopping in the middle of games and declaring that it's unreadable (anyone else have this problem???)... so what I'm about to tell you happened in 3 quarters...
Kama (Dallas) beat me (New Orleans) 83-31. Yeah, you read that right. 83-31 in 3 quarters. I was prepared to lose by as many as 30 or so, I knew Kama had been playing every night. What happened was ridiculous, though. Dallas shot 75% from the field. 75%. Meanwhile, NO shot 28%. What's more, Dallas was way down the court for easy layups the entire night. Not just one player... two or more. My players would not get back in time. And before anyone suggests it, Kama wasn't hanging back like some cheesers do. He didn't send anyone early.
Chris Paul could not keep up with Jason Kidd. I could sprint as hard as CP would go, he could not even keep even with Kidd. He just blew by him whenever he wanted. It was as if my team was playing in mud. Dallas was raining 3's, even from the big men. I couldn't make a layup with a 7-footer and he was shooting 3's with them. He repeatedly would just waltz down the middle the middle of the lane and lay it up, often uncontested against my man defense.
I played several games after that. I won all but 1 and shot close to if not above 50% from the field, regularly scoring in the upper 60's to mid 70's. The only game I lost was to a cheeser in a ranked game that played with atlanta and subbed in some guy with a huge dunk rating... he ran pick and roll every time down the court and I couldn't even change my defense fast enough to stop him. Even he only beat me by 25 or so...
Anyone else had an experience where they could not do anything at all against a team and yet the other team was totally, totally unstoppable?

All I can say is that Kama is definitely not as dominant in this game as he is in Madden (Yeah, I said it, Bro... what of it?!?). He's good no doubt, but not 50 point lead in the 3rd quarter, good. At least not in my opinion, I might be wrong. I think it was probably just a fluke. High percentage games happen all the time, and usually one team gets pummeled when it does.

I'm not sure why Kidd was blowing by CP like he was, but it was like clockwork. I looked at the stats, and I had some 22 points off turnovers I think? The rest was a team that was simply hot from the field, taking advantage of pick and pops, pick and rolls and open looks.
As for my game against BSMVP....wow. First of all we had to play it twice practically, and the first go around was a shoot out. Right at the end of the third quarter, I got a blank white screen and BSMVP got the same, but with an error message of some sort stating there was a 2K8 connection issue? Anyway, I was up 58-54 I believe with just over a minute or so left in the third quarter. When we started our game over, it was a completely different pace. After being tied 17-17 at the end of the first, I had a whopping 9 point 2nd quarter. I couldnt buy a bucket. Granted Houston only had a 14 point quarter as well, but it was still pretty ugly. The third quarter is where the Rox extended their lead to as much as 21 I believe, maybe more. It got ugly.
Then came the Mavs. Fourth quarter fire power from Stackhouse, Terry and Dirk. Raining threes and finding some lay-ins here and there, while shutting down the previously hot Rocket offense by getting stops when it mattered most. The ending was shocking however. After clawing back into the game, Dallas tied it up at 73-73 with 30 seconds left. Houston couldnt knock down the shot at the end of the shot clock, giving Dallas one last chuck at the hoop in hopes to avoid overtime. With 6.2 seconds left, Dampier inbounded the ball to Kidd, who got it up the court to Jason Terry. With two Rockets in front of him, Terry pulled up for the game winning three from distance. The buzzer goes off as the ball rips the net, silencing the Houston sell out crowd.
Fortunate to win this game doesn't describe it. I don't know what does.
Kama

I have no problem with that. He missed his lone 3pt attempt.
As to 22 points of turnovers... I only see 6 steals recorded. Maybe block shots count as turnovers. No matter who I had shooting layups, you were blocking them somehow. So 6 steals, 8 blocks = 14 turnovers, it's conceivable that would explain 22 points. Quote:

The NBA record for FG percentage in a game is .707. You shot a total bullshit 75%. The NBA record for lowest in a game is .229... wow, that's oddly similar to my 0.283. Ok, I don't want to exaggerate... I didn't break any records. You're not denying that Kidd could easily blow by CP. I don't know what was going on, but that game was bullshit. Period.
I'm not saying I won't get killed again by someone, or Kama again. I'm a noob at this game... but some stuff just doesn't make sense.

The game was pretty wild and I honestly don't have a definite answer for those shooting percentages.

Quo...I used to get that unreadable disc error frequently. As soon as you realize you haven't heard any commentary in about 2minutes, then you know its over.
(I don't know if you do this) Someone suggested I do not turn on the console with the disc already inside, open the tray and put the game in everytime. I still leave the disc inside, but to turn the console on I just hit the eject button.
I have not had that error one time in 3months...

Kama was just saying Dirk's incredible, which he is (as a reason for why his 7-footers might be making 3's)... both of us are well aware of Dirk's Dirkness. Quote:

I have not had that error one time in 3months... | Thanks for the tip, man! I'll have to try that. I think I did, in fact, just turn the game on with the disc already in the player. I didn't have that problem again after unloading and reloading, so you may be right. BTW, I play with the commentary down... can't stand to listen to it in any game... so I get no warning that it's coming. In the case of this game, it was a mercy killing. I'm glad I can hopefully avoid it in the future.
And Kama, no worries. I didn't want to come off as whiny but I probably did anyway. I was just trying to make sense of it somehow... no argument I've found makes sense. I can see a 20 or 30 point drumming based on the mistakes I made, but not 50+ in 3 quarters. I guess we'll see what happens. If I continue to lose that way, well, then I just suck. I'll have to take up badminton.
