| | On the Dance Floor | Breaking it in, and down -- Week 2: MAHKILA 21 @ Schlickabod 24
The Redskins/MAHKILA visited the Colts/Schlickabod on Friday night, 09/22/06, resulting in a spirited contest.
Both teams' first drives petered out pitifully. Schlick had to have his defense start the scoring with a 26 yard interception return by Doss for a TD. MAHKILA's ensuing drive into the 2nd Quarter ground down to Schlick's 1, where he had a 1st and goal. Schlick held him to 4th and goal, when MAHKILA completed a pass from Brunell to Lloyd for the tying score. The following possession, MAHKILA sacked Schlick into a 3rd and 21 at his own 11. Manning completed a desperate 4 yard pass to Addai who escaped a tackle and ran it 85 yards to score and put Schlick up 14-7. MAHKILA parried immeditately with a 26 yard bomb that went for 80 (from 1st and 10) to tie it back up 14-14. (vvvvvt!) Schlick made an 8 play drive to make it 21-14, capped off with a 3rd and 12 pass into the enzone to Wayne. With less than a minute left, passed his way to the Colts' 46 yard line where they punted..and Schlick ran the clock to halftime.
Schlick started the 2nd half off with the ball, only to surrender it with a spectaular MAHKILA int by Holdman on his own 13. Both teams were stymied by each other's D, until Schlick was able to make a 47 yd Vinatieri FG to stretch the lead to 24-14 with 2:58 left in the 3rd. MAHKILA Mossed down the field to Schlick's 10, where he was stymied to a 4th and goal from the 14. He then burned Schlick with a slot cross pass to Randle-El for the TD to close it to 24-21 with 1:04 left in the 3rd. Schlick used a 4th Quarter-munching 17-play drive to end the game at MAHKILA's 17.
I enjoyed it, MAHKILA! Good luck.

| It was a massive battle, I had a blast Dmiller. If I sounded frustrated it is a carry over from my lifetime experience with the Madden series. I love football but because I am stubborn and stick with the Bears, I am always doomed.
Great game, I look forward to my next match....

| woundup/49ers @ Mahkila/Redskins In what turned out to be a thrilling game between the Redskins and the 49ers the 49ers came out on top 52-35. The 49ers Sammy Davis opened up the scoring by putting a stop to the Redskins opening 70 yard drive by intercepting the Mark brunell pass at the 3 yard line and returning it 97 yards for a td. After a 3 and out by the Redskins the 49ers took the field and with their first play from scrimmage handed the ball off to Frank Gore who scampered 41 yards for a td putting the 49ers up 14-0. The Redskins did eventually come back to even the game at 35 all but after a Nedney field goal and a few coaching mistakes by Mahkila the 49ers never looked back. | | |
