1. Forum name & Gamertag or PSN ID or Wii # (List them if you got em)
Lord Sam in the forums, Lord Sam on the 360, and Lord Sam in real life.
2. What brought you to PGL?
I'm pretty sure it was a link from (what was) The Live Eye, which charted your online time on the 360 and kept track of what games you were playing at those times. I was really looking forward to the time when I needed it for an alibi, “Your Honor, clearly I was playing Lumines Live at the time of the incident”. Anyways I followed the link to PreGameLobby joined and posted my introduction. Lord Geoff and I had literally just finished Gears of War on insane on co-op when I signed up. I was really impressed by all the welcoming remarks from everyone, and I got Lord Geoff to sign up the next day.
3. What do you like about PGL?
Greatest. Community. Ever. Seriously, this is a great group of people where we have barricaded ourselves off from the ignorance and savagery that is the general population of online gaming. I've enjoyed getting to know a lot of the PGL regulars. Knowing that Quo is the Organizer of All Things, Pickle & ProphetOne say some crazy things, Brew WILL say anything, WonderMonkey is one funny poster (and posters of him are funny as well), Dmiller is Fixer of all things on the site, Keezy supports his Bengals even if they are imploding, Bronx has my back in power-leveling me up, AZRaiderH8r shares my displeasure for VPD, Botmann thinks (fill in blank) stinks!, KingAnyXVI is my UK brother, SeahawksTD4 is my hero for his great work schedule, Wood Ghost will get shot no matter what or who he is hiding behind, and that DLitch will talk your ears off. And then talk some more. Oh yea, and Peench is damn sexy (Peench, you can paypal me my $5 now).
4. Where did you come up with your gamertag/PSN ID?
I got lucky with that gamertag as I was one of the beta testers for Xbox Live on the original Xbox. I got selected when Geoff and I signed up at E3 years ago. He is still trying to figure out why I got it and he didn’t. Later I got all my buddies in Denver to grab gamertags such as Lord Geoff, Lord Lou-Dog, Lord Wil, Lord M F, and Lord Blaine. The best part was playing Halo 2 with all of us on one side. The other team would see us and think, “Oh man, these guys are serious, they all have matching gamertags!” And they would prepare for it like it was a clan match. Of course we were not organized and spent the five minutes of each match fighting each other over the warthog. The 'winner' would hop in and drive it about 10 feet before he was killed by the other team, giving them a 1 to -5 lead. Ahhhh, good times.
5. How many hours a week are you gaming online?
Seems like I do quite a bit of gaming at the store (coolstuffstores.net) but sometimes when I appear online I’m actually working. And by working I mean setting out a pile of change on the counter with the sign “take whatever change you feel is appropriate”.
6. Why do you game?
Because it’s tons o’ fun! Especially since just about all my friends are into gaming. Mostly because it is a good way to relax after a long day. In fact, I got my dad into gaming a few years ago with Resident Evil 2 for the PS1. He has since upgraded to a 360 of course and has beaten Halo 1, 2, and 3 all on legendary, Call of Duty 2, 3 and is very close to finishing 4 all on veteran. Not bad for a guy who turns 65 in April. So, it’s really cool to chat with him about strategy and we constantly do the “how did you get past this part?” routine.
7. What's your favorite snack?
Anything my wife makes! And I try to mute myself if I am eating potato chips with my headset on. I don’t think I’ve been busted on that yet but I’m sure it would sound annoying.
8. Have you ever participated in FNFF?
Heck yes! Lord Geoff and I signed up at PGL in time to be mercs for the first PGL War on Call of Duty 3 when we were victims of the “double-trigger-pull MG42s” (No, I’m not bitter). I was also the general of the Army of Plaid in the PGL War II, and have played in a number of Fridays on Call of Duty 4, Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2, the Madden league, the NCAA league and even, on rare times, some Halo 3.
9. When do you normally game?
I’m on fairly regularly during the days, and definitely on Friday nights! The only other times you’ll see me online during the week is playing a PGL Madden or NCAA game or in my attempts to butcher classic rock music with my performances on Rock Band. My terrible guitar play and horrible drum play is only surpassed by my inability to sing. For some reason that doesn’t stop me from playing, although many wish I would.
10. Do you game with your family/local friends?
Lord Geoff’s desk is about 12 feet from mine so I guess that counts. Outside of him Jordykins is at the store a couple of times a week. Actually we’ve been able to pull in a handful of PGL people from Denver or Used-to-live-in-Denver area; Jordykins, Lord Lou-Dog, DSwell1 & 2, Morphover, Solo Blade, JSBFan, and SeahawksTD4. Not too bad, I mean we are no Wichita Falls. I’ve always told those guys (Causedawg, Schlickabod, and about 50 others) that we need to have a Denver vs. Wichita Falls battle for supremacy or we need to merge and dominate the world. Not sure which one.
11. What's your current favorite game?
I love me some Vegas 2 and Call of Duty 4, but I find that Rock Band is a blast with friends and even my wife loves the game. Heck, she is inviting people over to the house all the time to play. I will also admit that Puzzle Quest for XBLA is like crack cocaine dipped in chocolate. And then wrapped in bacon. Wait, that sounds horrible.
12. What's your favorite game of all time?
Just one?!? Hmmm, I’ll go old school just to make it interesting. Me and a buddy of mine have played thousands of games of Baseball Stars on the old Nintendo. Great game, kept track of stats through a season and like the dorks we are, we kept stats for every season we played. We were one step away from having a Baseball Stars Hall of Fame for our players. I’ll go with that one and Baldur’s Gate for the PC and especially the Throne of Bhall expansion.
13. What is your Best PGL Gaming moment?
Any Madden or NCAA game is a blast with a PGLer. It’s a very cool chance to sit down and chat with one person for about an hour. Lots of laughter going on in those games! My funniest moment was probably from the first PGL War. It was a CTF and Keezy and I were on defense and, I might add, doing a great job for the Orange Army. Well we had done so well that I was running out of ammo so I figured I’d stop the next support guy to drop some ammo. So I see Quo running off to battle and ask him for some ammo. Quo stands still and kinda stares off in the distance. I know Quo is at home thinking, “how do I drop ammo?” Finally he figures it out and he drops a box of ammo. Which he then proceeds to pick up himself. Keezy and I look at each other and then back at Quo, “Great Quo, now can I have some?” Freakin’ hilarious!
