Guild Wars Tops Five Million Units Sold

Guild Wars franchise breaks major milestone in less than three years.

Bellevue, WA. February 26, 2008-NCsoft® and ArenaNet® have announced that the Guild Wars® franchise of online roleplaying games has surpassed five million units sold in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Published by NCsoft and developed by ArenaNet, the Guild Wars franchise consists of the original Guild Wars, Guild Wars Factions®, Guild Wars Nightfall®, and the recently released expansion, Guild Wars: Eye of the North™. The Guild Wars games have been commercial and critical successes since the release of the original campaign in April of 2005. Its award-winning content and innovative subscription-free business model have created a large and loyal following that is highly anticipating Guild Wars 2™.

This game was pretty fun to play but, It lacked anything to AIM for in my opinion, a level 20 lvl cap I hit in one sitting and then you just pvp'd to unlock extras to pvp easily with better items? Seems a complete waste of time. But I guess its more of a casual gamer's mmo since it lacks the need to pump non stop hours into it, Which is a mega plus really.

Coming from the same company who made Lineage 2 I was quite dissapointed though. I sold my account after 2 days to a real life mate.

Ahh... But the level 20 cap is what the game was designed around. It wants to reduce the forced grind of making it to high levels, just so that you can survive. The game has evolved so that it's really about team play, rather than venturing off alone in your battles. It's a great game, even though I gave it up around a year ago.

It also wasn't made from the same company who made Lineage 2. NCSoft published both games but ArenaNet is made up of ex-blizzard developers and had nothing to do with Lineage 2.

this is good news for the devs. i actually plan on picking this game up really soon. a couple friends of mine got it, and they say it is really good, especially because it is free to play online.
