Omega Five (Xbox Live)
By: Rhinochaser
Omega Five is a little short on background but that doesn't hamper the game at all. From what I have seen so far Omega Five has all of the dynamic and thematic elements of an old school, badass martial arts movie. Omega Five feels like it is straight out of Black Belt theater, but with a Sci-Fi twist. The characters in Omega Five feel like real characters; which is sure to generate additional mythology and a cult following over time.
General Gameplay
Omega Five breathes new life into the side scrolling genre. Omega Five is no simple Defender. You will be amazed at the sheer number of opponents that manage to spawn, float, gallop, fly, saunter, flip, and blossom onto the screen from multiple angles and dimensions. This is truly a next gen version of the side scrolling genre and not simply another side-scroller. Characters will attack you from all angles, including from the background. The first time a bad guy emerged out of the background and started attacking me it caught me off guard, but was an awesome "wow" moment!
Character Selection:
Compared to previous development versions of the game, there is a very intuitive feel to the controls. If you liked the way Geometry Wars felt, this game will immediately give you the itch for more and leave you bleary eyed at work the next day.
The multiple characters each have their own special abilities and gain and lose abilities with game play. I have a feeling that this game will find a loyal following.
Graphics & Sound
The look, feel, and sound of this game is completely enthralling. Omega Five is one of the best looking and sounding XBL titles that I have seen to date. If it had come out on disc as a full release, I would likely have added it to my collection.
Ruby:
Full surround sound and multiple angles of attack truly create an immersive experience. The voice acting of the characters in this game is sure to create inside jokes and comments for years to come and is definitely part of the appeal of this title ... I only wish that I had an interpreter!
Multiplayer Options
In multiplayer mode Omega Five has a unique twist. The players share the lives of a single player game. In other words if your partner sucks, you will be going down twice as fast. So don’t think for a second that the two of you are going to team up and make conquering this hellish landscape any easier!
Sensei:
Plus and Minus
Here is the deal: You can bitch to me later, but this is one XBL title that I rate a definite buy. If you enjoy side scrolling shooters this one will take a spot in the Parthenon of greats.
Tempest:
Game play vid of Sensei and his faithful hound (who according to legend is the 5th warrior of this saga). Definitely my favorite character:
