I noticed that hair issue too... it was kind of goofy looking. I'm glad you finished it Brad, that does say a lot.

I'm going to play through it again down the line, and try more sneaking. It is pretty suspenseful sitting there in the grass when an enemy approaches, but it can be taxing to crawl around on the floor for 6 hours.

*sigh* It's over. Done. I feel a combination of emptiness, loss, and closure.

After waiting a month, my expectations had time to grow. Hearing of all the talk of a "Fan's Ending" got me excited. But now that it's over, I feel I can take a non-bias viewpoint on it.

Acts 1+2 were fantastic, near perfection on multiple levels. In Act 3, I stopped having fun for the first time. The entire level was sub-par. Not only for this game, but for Metal Gear as a series, it is one of the weakest levels I can remember. Act IV was a nostalgic wet-dream. Shadow Moses updated with this-gen tech? Are you f*cking kidding me? The entire way the level was laid out was "for the fans". Fighting a "Wolf" boss in the same area you fought Sniper Wolf, the ravens in the basement, and even the fact that everything was laid out the same(rations, ammo, etc) was extremely cool. But Act IV was the last of the "fan service" levels.

Act V felt ripped out of a shitty popcorn movie. The whole mission briefing felt forced, and awkward. The dialog in this Act is also some of the worst in MGS history(MGStory, if you will). I had to stop numerous times to unclog the cheese from my speakers. I've never thought of Kojima as a master script-writer, but the lines uttered here are god-awful. So is the whole story line involving Johnny and Meryl. What the hell was that about?

The wedding in the epilogue felt out of place, and again, forced. It seems as if Kojima(and his fellow story writers) egos have grown. They are implementing a lot more cliches than we are used to seeing in MGS games. Snake is no longer the grizzled badass, with a smartass sense of humor. He's a senile old man who sits like a cardboard cut-out and says barely anything. This is his final mission, and he is treated like a filler character.

I just felt let-down. All previous [major] characters: Raiden, Meryl, Naomi, Ocelot, even Mei Leng all get treated like stars. But Snake is pushed aside, left to retort during other peoples diatribes. I feel he never gets to speak his piece, and that isn't right. Even during the end, when he's listening to Big Boss(Which I loved the fact that he was still alive) he never utters one of his classic one-liners.

Did I get my expectations too high? No, I don't think so. I'm pretty good about separating hype from substance and gathering my opinion from that. I just think that somewhere between the cheesy dialog, the weak(by MGS standards) boss battles(which also contain some of the shittiest dialog ever), and the overly dramatic nature of everything they just kind of lost me. It didn't even feel like a Metal Gear game near the end.

While I like the way it ended(Snake living and all), I feel it definitely went out with a whimper. So much potential, so much history, and they dropped the ball. The game is still a good game, and worthy of being called a MG game, it just isn't worthy of being Snake's finale.

Weird- I felt the opposite. I thought the thing with Meryl and Johnny was an awesome shocker. I almost thought they were gonna die, and its like I felt what they were feeling at the time. I think the way Snake was portrayed was perfect also- he's old, grumpy, and doesn't need to say as much. Kinda like 'more is less'. The boss battles were indeed weak. The best is the last chick with the dolls. I thought that was amazing. I turned off my rumble to see if that helps and forgot to turn it back on, and someone made a comment about not having a rumble controller lmfao (I think it was Otacon). Shadow Moses was indeed a true throwback. and I loved every second of it. It took all my strength not to tell you about it lol How horrible did you feel when he was getting fried? I started ballin when he put the gun to his head and the camera panned away. I was upset that it had to end like that.

Thankfully, I was wrong.

Yeah, I'm definitely glad gunshot-suicide was not the finish. If Snake is going to die by gunfire, it's needs to be enemy fire. A female enemy, a naked female enemy...no, 6 naked female enemies. All Latina. Am I seeing your dreams, Paul?

My highest rank was "Bear" for choking out people. I got quite a few more, but I don't remember.

Also, is anyone else jonesing for remakes of the first 3 games in the MGS4 engine? I would literally kill everyone in my family for that to happen...wait, I've already done that. Well, I would do something pretty drastic.

I certainly agree on the cheese factor and the cliche stuff. Them surviving was a great shocker/surprise, but the whole marry me right now thing was kind of corny. I don't know, I'll have to play through it again... I was pretty giddy the entire game. I really liked Drebin and I collected the shit out of guns and such. Maybe next time I'll be more stealthy.

I can't wait to get the musket! I should have 600k by the time I finish my 2nd playthrough, so I'll snag it during Act V. I also liked Drebin, he was a pretty cool character.

I wouldn't trust any of the crap on G4. But if there is a MGS5, it won't be called Metal Gear Solid 5. It will be Metal Gear [insert new code name]. I might guess a game to fill in some story gaps, or maybe a Metal Gear 1 remake. The latter would be beyond awesome, but either way Kojima won't be involved. What does that mean? Who knows, it may be a good or bad thing.

I am now playing MGS4 for my 3rd time, this game is just better and better every time I play it, I like how you can use all the items you got on the previous game to use on starting a new game.

Metal Gear Solid 5 would be the name know matter if Solid Snake is not the main charactor because Metal Gear Solid 3 had Big Boss or Naked Snake as the main guy.

No, it wouldn't. Because Metal Gear Solid 4 was the final game in the Solid Snake story arc. Big Boss is a main charater in the Solid Snake story, so of course his game will have Solid in the title.

If/when there is a new Metal Gear game, it won't have Solid in the title unless Solid Snake is the lead protagonist. Kojima has already said the Solid Snake saga is over, so therefore no more games will feature him as a lead character.
