| Man, I don't think I have the time to play thru the old ones before this one. I guess maybe at some point I'll pick it up, but having to play at night in the main TV area tends to keep the kids up so I dunno. I'm torn. | |

When I was done with Act 3, the stats said I had been playing for over 19 hrs. | |

While it's an integral part of the series I'm sure, some people might enjoy the game more without sitting through the lengthy cinematics. Can it and will it ruin some of the story? Of course, but then again, the story in the majority of MGS is a convoluted mess. It's all a matter of opinion, and in mine, there are way better story lines in other games that trump the MGS series.
Just wait. All these people saying that MGS4 is the greatest game ever made will be playing something else a few months from now and will claim that on that game. I just think that people should stop riding the Kojima dong and post their real thoughts on the game. From what I've read from users so far, it's a perfect game. I'm calling BS!

Stop being a naysayer and get off the meth. I promise you in a year I'll still say that this is the perfect game. Seriously, skipping the cutscenes is akin to buying a big ass ice cream cone, dumping out the ice cream, and eating just the cone.

| Not everyone got bent out of shape. It’s Goat’s prerogative to skip the cut scenes. Is he missing out? In my eyes, yes. But, I personally feel that whatever it takes for someone to enjoy the game that person should go ahead and do. The cut scenes ARE very long at times and for fans such as myself, I can enjoy sitting through them; for people who want to simply play the game and just simply like the MGS series, I think the cut scnes could be a bit much so I don necessarily blame Goat for skipping them. | |

Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: S.F. Bay Area Age: 30 | Honestly I've only been able to play in small snippets. I've watched some of the cut scenes, just not all. My main reason at first for skipping some early on was I wanted to get to ACT 2 as people said the environment and atmosphere are truly amazing (they were right ).
I probably exaggerated a bit when I said I was skipping all the cut scenes. I watched the more revealing cut scenes and the laughing octopus, LOL that chick is nuts Spoilers: | Was there even a point for the second round after her bio arms are gone, where she blindly walks at you to simply be mowed down? | . Also I watched the big cut-scene near the end of ACT 1 and a few before that, it was indeed very well done (pretty sure I had watched it before on a trailer before release). I've watched a few on ACT 2 as well, relating to Drebin and that other guy who was having fun with the Cows/Ghekos. And yes some of them are just too much. I guess if I had followed from all the old games I'd appreciate them more but I never got into the old games. I'm glad I am able to really enjoy this one (I wasn't even initially planning on buying this game) I'm on ACT 3 and I truly hope I'm not already half way done with the actual gameplay part.
Bottom line for me is with my limited game time (this isn't a child friendly game by any means, plus I'd rather play with my boys then play games in fron them) I actually want to get in gameplay that's all
Thank god I don't play some of those RPG's, my friend told me MGS4 cutscenes are nothing compared to a Star Ocean game he played. If brew was a fan I'd be in much bigger trouble

Such can not be said for the majority of players/reviewers on the internet. Whatever. If you enjoy the game by watching or skipping cutscenes, you are enjoying the game. Period. That's all that matters.
