"Very Special Surprise" For MGS4 On Monday

Once GTAIV mania dies down, it'll be time to embrace MGS4 mania, and that time isn't far off. In fact, as far as many gamers are concerned, they've begun the mania many months ago, probably immediately after the official unveiling at last year's E3. And of course, we always cater to our reader's every need, which is why we just recently posted up everything you need to know about the all upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4 products.

However, there's one final detail that we believe deserves a whole new headline, and that's because it's a mystery that will soon be solved on Monday. Konami Online's Brandon Laurino, who opened our eyes to all the MGS4 release/product info in the first place, left us with one big teaser-

"Check back here on the PS Blog next Monday, April 14th 2008, as we have a very special surprise in store for you! See you next Monday!"

Now, we could probably venture a few guesses as to what this surprise might be, but whatever it is, we're assuming it's mighty significant. Any "surprise" related to MGS4 is going to be most appreciated by fans of the franchise, and we'll be one of the first to check the PS Blog at the start of next week. We can't wait to see what's up!

I'm interested what this could be. More plot information? That doesn't seem likely, given Kojima's style for secrecy.

I'll be interested in seeing what they surprise us with, regardless.

Hopefully they will up the 1:4 gameplay to fmv ratio that they rocked in the past, although with them complaining about capacity of blu-ray, I doubt it. It will probably end up being the best game that you will ever watch...

Heh, yeah... they lost me on MGS2 with the first of many 20+ minute cutscenes / communications sequences. That is the same reason that FF7 killed my enjoyment of that series. I like to play games, not watch cut scenes. I just find that kind of stuff self-indulgent and not really geared towards providing the customer with a good gaming experience. It is just a personal opinion and one I know is not shared by many when it pertains to those two series. I don't fault their fans, but it doesn't appeal to me.

100% agreed. Dylan and I have this conversation a lot, and it always ends with us agreeing that it's not for everyone. I'll give MGS4 a rental, but that's it. The MGS games never really had a story that intrigued me, which is why I lost interest. I can honestly say that to this day, I'm not completely certain what the plot to the series is.

My guess is that Monday will be the huge announcement that - delayed for one more year.

I betcha it'll be an announcement saying that you'll need 10 gigs of free space on the hard drive for the install that will take... 1-2 hours. Then, upon bootup, it will brick your PS3!

P.S. - Signing up for that Konami account is terrible. You have to make a Konami account, and then a Game ID. They have to be 8 chars or longer, and cannot be the same. Clems.

That was for MGS Online and not specifically MGS4. Sure the two are tied together, but I was anticipating more JUST for MGS4.
