It's always good to get the official word, isn't it?
A number of sources have said the release date for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is June 12, even though Sony and Konami haven't officially issued anything beyond the vague "Q2 2008" estimation. All that changed today, as the press release dropped and everything has been cleared up. Supposedly the final chapter in the legendary series (we've heard that before), MGS4 will indeed arrive in North American stores on Thursday, June 12. It will also feature the expected Metal Gear Online Starter Pack, which includes a 16-player online option and several different maps. Most who have been following the MGS4 news/rumor saga already know this, but here's something you probably didn't know:
Starting in April, those who take the initiative and pre-order MGS4 will receive the Metal Gear Saga 2.0 DVD, which boasts a Prologue that summarizes the full franchise's history as a 20th anniversary tribute. But best of all, this pre-order package also includes a little gift: it's a download code and special instructions for accessing the MGO beta test when it goes live in late April! But remember, they only have so many of these spots open, so the download code will only be available "while supplies last." So there you have it. There shouldn't be any more questions regarding the launch of this hugely anticipated title, so prepare for stealth awesomeness in June!
