What with all the rumors out there, it's often difficult to differentiate fact from fiction in the video game industry. Late last year, one of the biggest rumors centered on Konami's upcoming blockbuster, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. It was announced as a PS3 exclusive, but in this era of multiplatform titles, many were speculating it would also arrive for the Xbox 360. Some sources even claimed it was inevitable, that Konami would definitely port MGS4 to Microsoft's system at some point.
However, we'd like to issue a very firm clarification on this point, because it seems certain 360 fans simply refuse to grasp the truth: MGS4 is not coming to the Xbox 360. There are a variety of reasons for this. First and foremost is Hideo Kojima's constant insistence that he would never do such a thing. Sources can say Konami is "considering" a multiplatform endeavor, but Kojima isn't about to let them mess with his baby. Secondly, not once has the publisher wavered on their official stance that MGS4 is a PS3 exclusive. No spokesperson ever stood up and said, "well, we may consider a 360 port if the market demands it," or something like that. Thirdly and finally, we cite evidence that popped up just today over at Joystiq:
According to Kojima himself, the team needed to make some cuts just to fit the game onto a Blu-Ray disc, which can hold up to 50 gigabytes of data. Now, if they had to work to cram MGS4 onto Blu-Ray, can you imagine what they'd need to do with a 360 version? It'd have to be distributed amongst 5 or 6 dual-layer DVDs! Now, if you combine this with the head man's ceaseless insistence that MGS4 isn't going anywhere besides the PS3, you get irrefutable proof: MGS4 is a PS3 exclusive, and will remain a PS3 exclusive. So get over it, 360 owners. link

Sony is sometimes their on worst enemy with the hype in my opinion. Will it even have multiplayer or are they saving that for the Metal Gear online game you guys have been talking about. |
What Sony hype? Its a Konami game. If Kojima says it doesnt fit, it doesn't fit. Don't knock shit just to knock shit.

I never played the original games and frankly the loss of one shooter isn't going to make me cry. If it turns out to be the best thing since sliced bread then maybe I'll pick it up.

Seriously, if they took out all of the video fluff, it would fit. Why doesn't that guy just make movies? I want a game to play, not to watch. I get really irritated with that in any game, not just MGS. For the love of God, please let us skip through your cinematic wankfest and get back to the game. You know, the part that we paid for!
Rant over, please continue on about your business.

| You have a PS3, I thought? They aren't really shooters, more like Splinter Cell games. I'm not really a fan of splinter cell or MGS games as I don't like the controls that much.

We'll find out what is taking up the space eventually, all we can do now is speculate. One thing though is the previous games cutscenes are in real time. I'd be surprised if the game didn't have top notch audio like other exclusive PS3 games.

If it is Splinter Cell like I probably can for sure say it is a pass.

Oh well, you and I will probably pass anyways. I have a friend who is a die hard so I'll try his copy. Wonder if that killer bee guy will be back? Hopefully not some stupid love story while the character is in the middle of a gun fight.

Rant over, please continue on about your business. | Agree 100%. MGS was never impressive in regards to gameplay to me. I'll most likely skip it. The graphics don't look at that impressive.
I also agree with MadBryan about compression techniques. Chances are, they aren't compressing a lot of stuff because they don't have to. In reality though, that's technically a good thing. Less compressed something is the better. If they have the space, why not? If I have the space, I'd rather have uncompressed WAV files rather than MP3's at 320kbps.

I don't understand the dislike for MGS. I swear this www is the only place where there has been negative stuff said about it. I do agree that he should make a movie- the guy can tell one helluva story.

I only played that one that came out on Xbox and I liked it very much. The hype I was refering to brew is "It's hard to fit on a bluray disc" crap. Like its so awesome 50 gbs aren't enough. Thats ri"dick"alous! The game doesn't even have multiplayer. Its a seperate game/disc, right? The game will be awesome I don't doubt that but some of the copy/paste stuff is over the top. (feel like choking me again )

I'm a fan of the MG series and have been playing them since the NES days. I think the "trippy" parts of the series have always intrigued me. Kind of a bummer that cross platform probably wont happen but what can you do.
