In case you missed it, it was officially announced that retired NFL star Brett Favrewill grace the cover of Madden ‘09. Having a retired athlete on the cover is certainly a new wrinkle for the franchise, isn’t it?

Agreed. It is cool that they're doing this. The man should be honored. It also fits, since it is the 20th anniversary of the franchise. Finally, it will allow the curse to be broken.

This is great. I emailed this story to a few of my friends and got this response:

He'll probably fall down and break his hip, and will be mauled by dogs, and then lie there until he is buried alive by wind erosion. Madden will knock a guy that played for almost 20 years without ever missing a game.
