I can play them in the Zune software but not while using my 360 as a media extender. I can't figure this out. I have read reports that using a 3rd party metatag editor will cause them to go unplayable. Which I have been using since that part of the software sucks too.

| I saw this at zune online.
Why doesn't media from my network share play on my Xbox 360 console?
If you added a network share to the monitored folders list in the Zune software, the files might not play on your Xbox 360 console. This problem is most likely related to access permissions.
The Zune software uses Zune Network Sharing Service (Zune NSS) to share media. Zune NSS runs under the Network Service account rather than your user account. Therefore, the remote network share may not allow Zune NSS to access the files.
To fix this problem, modify Zune NSS to run under your user account, which will give it the same access you have to the network share.
This change is not recommended if multiple user accounts on the same computer are sharing media from the Zune software, because there is only one Zune NSS for all users on a computer.
Change Zune NSS access
On your computer, click Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. If you are running Windows Vista, you can see Administrative Tools in the Classic View of Control Panel.
Right-click Zune Network Sharing Service, then click Properties.
Click the Log On tab, then type your user name and password in the boxes.
Restart the service. | |

While going through Zune, the 360 could see them but not play them (red circle with slash) and when going through WMP, the 360 could not see them at all. Strange... I guess its high bit rate mp3 for everything now.

I guess it's back to TVersity for the media server. The Zune software use to rock for streaming. It actually was faster and supported more codecs. Now it's just a joke of a server.
Brew, can't roll back the FW. But peeps have being able to roll back the software.

| MAybe I'm confused as to where you ar eplaying the music from. Where are you streaming the music from? I have my music on NAS devices on my network. I can use the 360 as a media Center Extender and play it on the 360 and also use the Zune software on my PC and play music from that at the same time. When I rip my music I do it twice. Once at WMA 128kbs to a music folder that my Zune software monitors. And I do it again at WMA lossless to a music folder that my SQueeze boxes monitor. But with the MEdia Cenert Extender I can access from whatever folders I tell it to so I can play it from either one if I want. Although I normally use my squeeze boxes to play music since I can sync it up at my PC, Bedroom squeeze box and living room squeezebox to play the same content and be in sync with each other. | |

Who knows? | There is a mess of threads on the Zune boards about battery life being crap since the FW update. I haven't really noticed a huge drop with the battery myself. Hopefully MS will drop an update for the software and FW soon. Not a yr from now. The Zune is HOT right now. They would be stupid to not stay on top of things.
