Zune 8gb ?

I'm thinking of getting this. I have a 12% BB discount this weekend. Is the sound quality good? I use unprotected WMA at 192. Any dislike or special likes on the Zune. Heard the OS is a little buggy on the 8GB but not the new 80GB. I use drag & drop fom my pc to the IRiver I use now, can you do this ok with Zune? Mainly music player not much photo or video.
This is the other player I'm considering

The sound quality is great with Zunes. The latest update has said to improve it even further. Basically transparent playback.

Drag & drop is no longer there for syncing to the device. The previous software allowed you to just drag & drop whatever you liked into the sync window. Not anymore. There are MANY complaints on the Zune forums about features that were cut for this release. The Zune team is getting pummeled. No doubt a future update will add back what we had in the previous version. A little backwards, yes.

Hmmm... I did pull in a folder to my collection screen the other day. It was all compatible format music though. I tried to drag in a folder with some non-compatible video in it and none of it transferred. I will have to play with this a bit. One thing I did have problems with though, is that I pointed to my Music folder on my external hard drive and it didn't find the music. I had to drag the music folders onto the Zune software screen and then it was fine.

WTF? No drag and drop support? That's the only way I transferred! I may have to hold off on updating. That's lame.

I downloaded the new software yesterday and was able to drag and drop things and then it would wirelessly download the songs to my 30GB Zune. I never tried drag and drop before but it works great with the new software. It is an excellent upgrade especially the wirless syncing of the Zune. Now I just need to pick up the 80GB version. I had a 12% BB coupon for last weekend but nothing for this weekend.

You can drag & drop files into your collection, that's all. It will then monitor that folder and sync the contents if you're set to 'auto'. You can't drag & drop files onto the zune icon to sync like we were able to do in the previous software. The icon is now what the right side pane was. Try to drop a file onto the Zune icon and see if it syncs it.

Oh I see what you mean. I never used drag and drop with the old software. I was dragging it within the Zune software which is how I will use it anyway. I only want it to monitor a few folders.
For me this software is a huge improvement from before and the wirless syncing is just fabulous.

Any idea how I can tell the software what drive to use for burning, like you can in ITunes?

Cripp - thanks for the heads up. I only used drag and dropping to sync since I don't sync my entire collection. Since that still works I'm much less concerned now. I'll install it on my home server and give it a whirl. I'm excited about the wireless syncing!

No idea about the drive.

Peench, you're gonna love the wireless sync feature. I do. Just make sure the zune wireless services are running, zune bus enumerator & wireless config. They seem to be unreliable on Manual and starting when needed. Once I set the zune bus enumerator to Auto. It was much smoother at connecting. Hmmm...maybe that was my WPA issue? I'll have to try again tonight.
