Zune Marketplace...better meta service and album art.

Over the past wk, it would seem MS has been quietly updating a few aspects of the Zune Marketplace. The meta services for albums has improved dramatically and the album art has jumped to some incredible high rez versions for a hand held device. Check it out. I'm gonna try deleting my album art and re-downloading it thru the new meta services in Marketplace and see if I get some of this new album art. I have been using other sources for my album art in the past. Looks as though I won't need to in the future.

Now where is my FW update?

So what do you do about wrong album info or Unknown when it recognized other songs from the same album? And how do you fix the songs it says have no number? Is there an easy way to edit files & make it change them in collection & on the Zune? I have some albums it split into 3-6 parts some correct & some unknown. Share your wisdom Zune experts Thanks

The only way in the new software is to go into List mode. Right hand side above your lists. Browse/List. In List mode, you can edit track info. One at a time. Takes way too long. I use MediaMonkey to edit all of my meta tags.

So if I do all the changing in the Zune list does that change my Zune player or do i have to delete everything & resync? If I use media monkey what is the benefit if I need to change everything manually in the Zune? Only have about 1500 songs total, unfortunately 8gig doesn't let me put them all on at 192 wma. So to resync I have to pick out ones to drop.

Mediamonkey will allow you to change/update an ID3 tag for multiple songs. For example, you can edit all the songs for an entire album in one edit. Not so, anymore, in the new Zune software. Once changed with Mediamonkey, the changes show fairly quick in the Zune software. A resync will update them on your Zune. Mediamonkey is probably the best metadata tool out there for managing a large library of media.

I didn't have any problems, but I may have gone about it in a different way, influenced by past problems with computers in general. I reformatted my Zune before updating it and uninstalled the old Zune software before installing the new version. Everything was smooth as silk for me. I had complained about missing album art at one point, but those were previously downloaded podcasts that I accidentally put in the wrong folder. Also, I have the "replace all" instead of "replace missing info" clicked in my settings.

I am still working on getting a Zune 80 to replace my Zune 30 that started randomly shutting off about a week or two before the update. The problem is that BestBuy only sells the 80 online for some reason.

I would have to say this is very flaky software. I've changed album names manually & when I reopen Zune software some revert to unknown, then I can't change them. My Zune profile page shows 500 + plays, no way! Most of the songs I play don't show up. Been playing Seether & Alter Bridge lately doesn't show. It's like the program just reads my files & decides I played them. I like the player & it has good sound but the software makes me tell people if that's important look elsewhere. Wish they had let you just use the Zune like a hard drive, drag & drop worked great on my IRiver. Lot of complaints on the Zune forums, maybe they'll update the program.
PS this was a new 8GB Zune no previous software.

You may want to try the database fix for the crazy metatag shit. Rename your Zune database with a .old and let the software create a fresh, new database instead of importing.
