What does everyone use?

I've got a windows vista machine here and have used Windows Media Player and MS Zune Software. I had used Music Match in the past, but not since they were bought out by Yahoo.

The problem I'm trying to fix is that for some reason the tags on quite a few of my albums are messed up. For example, there will be "artist" and then "contributing artist" and it lists them on the Zune and iPod as both - and its annoying as hell. I want to see just ONE damn artist when I'm searching and I don't care about hyphens, apostrophes and all that crap.

So I'm hoping there is an easy way to add and/or edit tags on my music fairly easily. I've done it with just windows to date by choosing the song and then choosing properties, etc. The problem I have with that is that unless all of the artists are the same, it will not let me change them all together - I have to do them one at a time. And that is a pain in the arse.

So if anyone has any advice on programs or techniques that I can use to help me get all my tags in order I would be eternally grateful.

I have been saying this for the longest time, And nobody ever feels me on this. But WTF IS THAT ABOUT MAN!!! I remember it the same way with the Dell and Creative. Do you know how hard it is to have 2pac, Tupac, Pac, Makevelli PLus a whole bunch of Ft. Scarface, Ft. Biggy, Ft. Biggie, ft. B.i.G, Ft. Notorious B.I.G. I couldnt take it no more, so i got the Almighty Archos. Which is a company that ever since they came out used the Easiest and most user-friendly way to put music on your mp3 player. You just plug it in and it pops up as a seperate hard drive then you just drag and drop.

The way you see your music on your cpu is how you see it on the Archos, you look by browser and you have the choice to look through that complicated mess they call Artist searching.

But when i used to use the dell i would Bring all my 2pac, or Andre Nickatina songs on winamp, highlight all of them (through winamp), then I would go to property song label and enter the artist name how i wanted.

So all Andre nickatinas would be spelled that way and all my Tupac, 2pacs, Pacs, and makavellis where spelled 2pac.

thats the way i used to do it....Good luck cause i found the easiest way was to just switch to another mp3 player that is Overlooked by most. Archos is awesome and i would never trade it for an Ipod or Zune.

haha! Don't be hatin'! Yeah, its annoying as hell. I don't want all my artists listed by So and So Ft. your momma, etc. I just want them all to be how I list them dangit! I know they're all trying to make it easier to find stuff, but for me I organize my songs the way I want them organized on my hard drive. This whole tagging thing is annoying - even more so since they are tagged wrong from the Marketplace where I purchased them!

So winamp might work, any other suggestions?

lol you mistaked my Paragraph, I suggested getting an Archos, Its just easier that way

It will Look just like your Harddrive and you dont need any programs. No Drivers, Software, Nadda.

Just your Archos, its Usb plug, a computer, and a shortcut to My Computer. I could take this plug it into your pc and Take all your music or put all of mine on yours.

But if you love yer zune sooo much then give winamp a shot.

I love my Zune and my iPod and my Dell and my Rio! The problem with the tagging carries over into streaming to the Xbox 360 and the PS3 so I wanna get em right.

What about iTunes? Can I change tags with iTunes?

I am still trying to stop WMP from updating entries for both songs after running through tunebite, and I came across this. Still manual, but at least you aren't doing one at a time.

Lazy....

Tunebite also allows for editing processed songs when you hit edit (below the recored media frame). I think that it may do them in batches.

Also in the otput setting in the options tab it looks like you can rename the files you were processing...

I was trying everything to sort my issue out and it looks like some of what I tried may work for your issue as well...it may still take awhile but at least it will be automated.
