since you're stating it is an on and off problem, per se, I would you either have a breaking contact or there is s short somewhere in your sporster unit. I have the sporster 1, and haven't had that issue. I've had the powerbrick get a short with boombox, and not detect the attenna in the car dock; I juse reseat the unit for the car.

Man, that blows. I have another sirius unit, but it's a audiovox PN1. The antenna contacts in the unit literally broke off. I bought it off ebay, so had no warrenty. They said I could still send it in for $70. They ended up sending a brand new unit. I didn't have a lot choice since I had the home and car docking stations, and boombox for the unit.
But since the light issue isn't consistent, I think you have short somewhere or a bad contact.

it's beyond my knowledge. I can wire up hometheaters, install car audio, and some model railraod stuff, LOL. But get to components like that, and it's all shaky.
Sirius didn't give you any quotes for out of warranty work? You may want to look into that. From there, you may want to see how much a new one would cost or a used one(craiglist, ebay, amazon, etc). Heck, I'm using the Sporster 1. Like the unit a lot, but the memo of songs thing is cool, but I hate how you can't delete individiual songs. You can only clear all songs!!!

My uncle has the Sporster2, and I've put his unit into my boombox. So I know you can, if needed, used that unit with your equipment.
That kind of blows about Sirius wonderful tips on your problem. Hmmm...kind of curious what you may have done to cause that problem. I'm always using mine and taking in and out of the dock stations--car to boombox. I use the boombox a lot at work and we have a tons of flour dust everywhere; we try to keep the place clean, but it just gets everywhere.

I got the problem you got yesterday. I'm not exactly sure why it occurred though. My screen went really dark when I was washing the car yesterday. I noticed it right after I cleaned my windows.
The unit was really hot. The bad hot for electonics. I'll run the unit for hours, and it does heat up some, but this was twice as hot as that. So it could have just been the sun beating on it. THe other possibly was some window cleaner got inside the unit. I thought I did a good job not spraying the unit. I'm not sure if I did spray it or not.
I took the unit out, left in the house and let it cool down. An hour later when I went to work, the unit was fine. No problems with it at work, and it was running for about 9.5 hours in the boombox.
