I looked on the passenger seat, and noticed some stuff from my console was laying there, as if someone had been rummaging through there. I put it all back in the console, not seeing anything missing, but did acknowledge that my truck was unlocked during the night. Well, last night, I went to CompUSA to buy a DVI-D cable and picked up a MS-branded Zune leather case for my wife's 30GB Brown Zune that I bought from Woot.com late last year. So, when I got home, I went back to my truck's console to get it, and it was not there. I called my wife, to make sure she didn't have it, and she did not. So, I think it got stolen from my truck. I've looked everywhere it could possibly be placed, and no luck.
I searched online for a way to track down a stolen Zune, which only resulted in an article about someone who detected a friend's stolen Zune using the wireless functionality. I don't think that's possible here. I also searched Craigslist and eBay, but nothing there. Man, I'm pissed! I only spent $85 on it, since it was a refurb, but that is such a cool device!! I don't want to have to spend that money again, which would really be double that price for a new one. Can't count on being able to get a Refurb again.
But, I'm wondering if I call MS with the Serial Number, if they'll be able to tell if it was connected to the internet. Then, maybe it's now linked to someone else's name/email address.
Thoughts? | |

I hope you can find your Zune. My brother got a GPS stolen out of his truck about two months ago. He had only had it for two weeks.

Speaking of GPS, I'm glad they didn't take that out of my truck, too. My TomTom GO 720 wasn't in my console, but rather in the pocket on the back of the passenger seat. I would have REALLY been pissed if that got lifted, too. That was $500!!

He said Pawn Shops are required to keep a database of items they get in, as well as ID'ing and fingerprinting the patron who sells/pawns the items. He said if my Zune showed up at a Pawn Shop and if they did its job, then I have a good chance of getting it back. He also said they have a good lead on a perp who's been thieving this area in the past several days. We'll see.

Reason: left off a word, which caused some confusion.

That's how I felt when my wife's car had it's stereo stolen - right infront of our house when we lived there... Then again when the whole car was stolen when we moved! Needless to say, we have a new car and the Club on both of them... NEVER leave anything in your car!
Hope they catch the SOB, Zoom. At least you got your Zune back - consider yourself very lucky. Let's send Jack Bauer after his ass...

Note for the future, anyone interested in a TomTom 720, I know just where to look! Meet me outside his house around 2am with a flashlight and some running sneakers!
