When I look at my restore data it only seems to update when I do the full backup process. This only seems to happen when I sync without adding anything new to the iphone.
Mine has been backing up for about 2 hours now...
It is one of the few things that I find extremely frustrating and annoying about the new software...

But rumor has it that the backups are faster now as is SMS texting in addition to bug fixes.

Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Left Coast | I hope so. I tried deleting all of my backups and resetting the history.
The unknown 12/31/00 backup keeps showing up...I wonder if that is part of the issue.
I canceled 2x tonight. This one is on 1hr. It doesn't seem like it is charging either...so now I am concerned about my battery running down during the process.
If this keeps up the iPhone may need to be ditched for awhile.'
Edit: it is now 11:50 so much for going to bed early. This is a load of crap. Canceled backup and update. Considering throwing phone at wall.

Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Left Coast | Thanks for that link. I have been reading all sorts of solutions...one of them had me delete all of my backups...so now I am having to backup.
So the x solution doesn't really help me to create a backup that I could restore from...which is what I am looking for. I am unsure if I feel like making drastic changes to the way backups are done.
This is a software glitch that they need to resolve. I also read that the new update didn't help.
It is a pretty silly issue considering that everything is already backed up to the computer...so a simple file pointing at the locations of the data should be sufficient.

Did you remove em? | |

Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Left Coast | Holy long back up...finally finished after about 2 1/2 hours, now it is installing new apps. I didn't remove any yet...my main priority right now is to create at least one working backup to resore from. Then I may start messing with stuff.
Apple support was clueless regarding the fact that there was a sync issue that was affecting multiple users. They wanted me to do the generic take two aspirins and have an appendectomy approach of reinstalling itunes, then restoring from my backup to see if it was a valid backup. I asked about the fact that my phone may be deleted before testing the backup and he wanted me to sync my data to my computer to itunes....arrgghghghghghH!
