| Free Apps and free candy...better get them now. That app store is like having a giant bag of frozen M&M's or Reese’s Pieces (or what ever--if crunchy dried insect husks sweetened with larval paste suits you insert your confection here), you may think that you are going to just have a hand full…
I must have 5 pages of apps loaded on this thing...and that is after deleting a bunch that I decided that I wouldn't use.
Anyway let me get to the point that I wanted to make. If you see a free application and you think that you may have even the slightest tinge of interest in it, download it. You have nothing to loose, you don’t need to install it, and free is awesome. Down the line you may be happy that you did. After a few updates, or even one, the developer may begin to charge for that once feely available application.
I downloaded a free converter that was functional but it was missing a few key conversions that I knew I would use from time to time.
I am always converting ounces to table spoons or tea spoons when working with fiber glass or epoxy to keep my resin to catalyst proportions very exact.
This converted didn’t have anything for tablespoons or teaspoons, but it was free. So I downloaded it. About 3 days later it was updated and it now included most of the functionality I would need.
I was perusing the app store and saw my app at the top of the popular downloads, but not in the free section. It now cost money….if I had waited, I would missed the window of my free converter.
Long story short, a lot of these free apps are lacking complete functionality or certain features so you might overlook them or wait. My guess is that a lot of them will be updated in functionality, and in some cases so will the price.
I don’t know how they will charge for updates under the current system unless they create a new updated version of the application that is separate from the original. Otherwise you may continue to receive updates for free.
P.S. I have said it before and I will say it again. Freedom isn't free. No, there's a hefty in' fee.
