Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: S.F. Bay Area Age: 30 | 1080p RP 50-62" set for gaming.. Best available at Best Buy? Lag issue extremely imp I've been looking into Samsungs DLP's and Sony's A200 Lcos sets. Both look to have great pictures in the store of course with DirecTV feeds not gaming. Samsung offers me bigger for the buck with my friends employee price. 61" Samsung for just under 2k, where as at that price the Sony lcos is the 55" model.
My biggest fear is that I'll get it home and have issues with input lag on gaming. I've seen mixed responses and I'm not really sure what to believe.
Is lag only on 480i signals? How bad?
Or does it also hamper 480p/720p/1080i as well?
Which set is better for less lag? Or is it not recommend to buy either for gaming

| I have an HLR set, last years model. The vga input does not introduce lag while the component did. I didn't realize the component had lag though until I tried the VGA input. My scores were always better with the VGA input over component and the only reason could have been from lag on the component input causing me to react late. | |

The current model is the HLS.. I wonder if anything is different?
Does your set behave differently with gaming mode on, with DNie off? what resolutions did you notice the differences, was it xbox360 at 720p?
I plan on using it for Nintendo Wii, etc as well so 480i/p is important to me.

The VGA input on my set is the only input that bypasses all the extraneous processing. That is why there is no lag. Other people had the same experience with this set when I was looking into the problem last December. All the HLR 1080P sets were like this.
When I would play PGR 3 with VGA my scores were always much higher than with component. This was directly related to lag.

Man, it is hard being patient when I'm currently gaming on a crappy sharp 27" SDTV with NO component even...especially after having owned a 65" Hitachi Ultravision.

I got that and a stand for it for a little over $2k with a 1 year warranty. Replacement Sony lamps are only like $150 on ebay and last about 8k hours or so. Best tv Ive seen yet

The newer Samsung's still have lag over component and some report it via VGA.
The Sony A200 doesn't accept 1080p via VGA, so you lose that with the 360 unless the 360 comes out with an HDMI cable.

I said screw it, if I'm unhappy I'll return it. $1999 is like $300 below Best Buy's employee discount price. But yeah, check out sears.com if anybody wants it at $1999 still. They ship it to your local store to pick up. I went with CC in case I decided to add the extended warranty (cheaper at CC) http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...seBVCookie=Yes

I still love my SXRD almost 4 months later.

The VGA input on the A2000 series is completely worthless. VGA resolution maxes out at 1366x768 although it can be overcome (at least for PC use) using a DVI to HDMI conversion.
