Recently I decided that instead of a full HT system I am just going to buy a pair of headphones to get decent sound quality better than what is going to be on my 20" Vizio and also help deepen my gaming experience with the added perk of silence.
Right now I am considering the TRITTON TRI-GA600 Audio Xtreme 360 - headset. It has real 5.1 instead of simulated, because of the fact that I has 4 speakers in each side. Has anyone used these or does anyone have any other suggestions for me. As always I am open to suggestions. Thanks I will add a Link to circuit city because that is where I would be buying it from. | I have / use them. My only real complaint has to do with the mic. The mic itself seems to work fine, but it doesn't have it's own speaker / volume control. In order to hear you have to set the 360 to output voice through the speakers. Voice then goes through the center channel on the headphones.. which makes hearing people really hard sometimes. Especially in games like Crackdown that don't have any audio settings you can turn down.
Other than that, I'm happy with them.

Does the surround really seem almost like a real surround system, I know it would never have the same depth but does it least give a good sense of direction?

But when I was reading up on mine before I got them, seems quite a few people though that these were the better set. Quote:

| I don't know if you can somehow use M$ headpiece or not, but I would say get some good headphones. I suggest checking out headphone.com I've been using my Sennheiser600 with my cosmic headphone amp and been happy. My PC speakers sound crappy and the sub is partially blown (sounds like the voice coil is trashed). I have used the headphones with using my earpiece on the phone. My earpiece for the phone is a etonymic, so it's a ear cannal model. | |

Thanks everyone for your help. still open for suggestions if anyone has any more.

I'm surprised Turtle Beach hasn't made a true 5.1 headset yet. I was hoping the X3 would've been it, but nope, just an upgraded X2.

Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Left Coast | MilkMan-- I use a pair of Trittons. I was trying to finish a review on them and got completely side tracked when we started our site up.
Here are a few points in regards to the company and their porduct:
They have excellent customer service and their techs are gamers.
I got so hammered one night that I sat on mine and broke them. I called Tritton and they replaced them. Amazing!
I stopped using my wireless stereo Sennheisers shortly after purchasing these and haven't used them since.
Since there is only 1 input I use my reciever to to the audio switching on them so that I can use them to watch movies, etc as well.
The 1 flaw I have found is in regards to communicating. You basically set voice to spearkers in your 360 dashboard and there is no seperate speaker for voice. So in loud settings the voice communication audio gets drowned out by in game audio. Some games are worse than others, and sometimes it may just be certain maps. The train in Gears for expample really screws with my ability to hear people talking. In a game like BF2 when someone is shooting rockets or a tank cannon...forget about it.
All in all they are the best solution that I have found to date. If you find a better one keep me posted.
They keeps my lady from getting up after midnight and glaring at me, and I can still get a decent sound stage...good enough for me.

When it comes to communication the Turtle beach are probably better but sound quality trittons are most likely hands down better.

I was really hoping that they would've made the X3's a surround sound set, but nope just an upgraded X2. There's always the X4 .
